can anyone tell me if a t3 turbo will go on a t4 flange or is a t4 flange different to a t3/t4 flange ?
does anyone know any t4 turbo's that would suit running an EF engine.

they are a little small for a 4.0l engine. some t3's will fit on a t4 flange but they will have to be the hybrid version or so im lead to believe

are the turbo's off a vl turbo too small for the 4ltr ??

The t3 size like Gt35R would fitt the bill...
Most / all std t3 turbo's would choke the turbine as soon as power comes on.. Its the turbine that in most cases is where power is determined... Yes too small... Unless they are t3/4 hybrids.. Which I run on my V8....

Yep or older T60 -T66...
The biggest rear housing on a T3 is .63... You need atleast .8 but that depends on wheel trim... My favourite is the T04Z with .84 rear housing.... The are big turbo's [800 h.p] with low rpm boost capabilities... Its easy to go way too high in power specs though.. If you want to keep std auto etc then keep things civil...Don't get too caried away with Nispro builds its way over engineered... It doesn't require a $1800 exhaust manifold same with inlet std will make 400 rwkw.. So I'd aim for around 220- 240 rwkw and have safe well managed reliable car....

Not so long ago heads (and maybe turbo's) were flow rated in CFM which was a truer indication. Now days both heads and turbo's have a Horsepower rating which is theoretically how much HP they can make on a good engine. |

so as long as my car doesnt make more power then that should it be alright on my car ?
if a turbo is too small for my car will it still run ? or what effect will it do ? thanks

It will still run. It will pull hard like a train and then as the revs rise it will simply run out of puff and maybe start pinging.
You could put a T28 on a falcon, if you never plan on taking it past 3000rpm. |

i had planned for a turbo that is off a VL .. but the a couple of other people said they are too small.
but if it will still run then i might just keep with the vl turbo... what do you mean by pinging

How hard do you plan on driving the thing. Will you ever take it past 4000rpm? (I'm sure as s**t you will as that's when you really crack a smile) Will your foot ever go flat to the floor? (Again I'm sure as s**t you will).
If so then even a VL turbo is too small. Probably the smallest of the T3 turbo's I'd go would be either a T66 or the GT35/40 from the XR6 turbo. People say the T66 is too small on a falcon but on a VL it won't make boost till just under 4000rpm (or so I've heard). Ask yourself this before you pick up a turbo. (since numbers are confusing you). How hard do you want to get planted in the seat? At what RPM do you want to get planted in the seat? And how hard are you going to flog the thing? Actually before all of that you should be asking yourself things like: How much cash do you have? How much time do you have? |

well ive just sold my pulsar turbo.. and miss the boost feeling so I decided to turbo the EB. I have a turbo manifold for it that has a T4 flange on it.
I like boost coming in fairly early - say about 2000 i dont exactly flog it at all.. but i like power there when i want it... and i was planning on spending 'about' $1000 for the turbo itself...

I had a new T3/T4 hybrid, which I was going to fit into my car, but after looking into it, I found that I would be restricting the exhaust flow, so therefore one would have power to about 3000 revs, then would drop off after that, so, it wasnt worth going through all the trouble, your better off getting the right Turbo to suit.
