hi guys,

just thought id put up some new info on what i have in the works...

my car has remained the same now for the last 18 months, aside from the gearbox conversion

firstly, i never have liked the idea of the big a** cooler hanging out the front of my car, i always wanted to try get away without cutting of the bumper in any way.. now, i have the urge to make some changes to what i have, and fix everything that i didnt really like

so, i have found a very nice core for making my custom air/water cooler setup, the core im going to use is the 1000hp rated one from garrett. this will allow me to fit it behind the bumper without it being visible from the outside. i will be making some nice tanks etc for it, and when i have it started i will post up some pics...

next off, i have just bought all the required pipe for my 3.5in exhaust system, i beleive the 3in may be of some restriction, so what the heck, im making a better one....

next is ill be getting some 83lb or bigger siemens to replace my current 72's, and ill also be getting a second 044 pump, i never wanted to resort to making and using a swirl pot in the boot, but for me to use two pumps i have no other choice.... i havent looked yet but i might just try get one single pump that flows considerably more than a single 044

another item of attention is going to be my plenum, im not happy with its distribution, so ill be cutting it up and making some improvements, designed at increasing the flow at the rear of the plenum... ill make all new cooler piping and this time ill be using black ceramic coated pipe instead of my current polished alloy..

ill make a nice box area around the filter too, im concentrating on getting as much heat out of my charge air that i can.....

im yet to adjust my cam timing to see what sort of affect it has on my power characteristics so thats something i want to try on the dyno...

what im trying to achieve here is increased output and decreased boost pressure, i think i can make a lot better effieciency. and also, improve my engine bay appearance, i have some wiring that really annoys me so that will be hidden at the same time

aim, see if 400rwkw is easily achieveble??? if it comes easily, thats a bonus.... and i want to try some more RPM out of it, might go to 6000

cheers, brad

how much do you want for your 72Lb'ers? (when you get rid of them that is)

Sounds like a good plan.

You should be able to do over 400 after all that. Pyroay did 450 with a similar setup!

I want to see how you go hiding the new cooler. Good luck with it all.

hey dan, i have mocked up my new cooler idea from cardboard to confirm its no trouble getting it to fit... damn e-series have very little room behind the bumper..

whats going to make this challenge harder is my refusal to remove the a/c system.. whatever i do also has to work around keeping a condenser in the front aswell

what about moving the condenser to inside the wheel arches? (at the front of them though, so the tyres wont touch them)

surely it wouldnt be too hard to make a bracket and get the lines made in the correct shape to suit

Good point, I didn't take much notice when reading, obviously.
For what, would you need to move the condenser?

im not saying that you HAVE to move it, just that it makes for a lot tighter fit when you consider im going to have to fit core with tanks, hoses, piping, the water cooling cores aswell all in there..

Yeah I can dig it.

Why don't you have the water-air cooler in the engine bay, polished up?
