I knew the first dyno readings i got were high but just how high i didn't know.
Went on the shootout dyno at AUTO-TECH in Toowoomba and went 210RWKW. Real world figures and a good place to start. Pete and Griffo at AUTO-TECH are now going to stock Raptor superchargers as they liked the system and it's in their view "money well spent". 270RWHP is 300+EKW on this dyno so i'm over 300kw and if i get the pics up you'll see we were a bit rich at that figure but we ran out of time and had to finish there.

Yup,
Good stuff. 280 is 210 rwkw, she seems to be all there mate. Well done.

why was it run in 2nd? pretty low torque for a 2nd gear pull

An SS Holden V8 has about 1170 lb of tractive force i have 1480 lb so it can't be too bad , the graph is photographed on an angle so it looks like it's falling away when it ain't.
It would hit the cut out in 3rd is why. Actually we got those AFR's with a fuel pressure regulator at 35psi and left it slightly rich as we ran out of time. Pete at AUTO-TECH has offered to fine tune it free off charge as he's got an interest now. Next is a 12lb pulley to match the peak torque to the power curve,in my head that should be a real gain in driveability. Did ya notice the Air temp compared to the Inlet temp there's plenty of room to grow guys.

Tell him to fix the scale on the AFR axes when he prints your next run.
Whats the blue run, the tune it was on before you got in there? Looks lean but its hard to tell with that scale LOL 210rwkw is good, dunno about over 300kw at the engine, but yeah, good result. And yes I noticed the ambient temp to the inlet temp LOL It's shootout mode mate, it has corrections for that. An inlet temp thats higher then ambient temp actually means a higher reading

i thought the general rule of thumb was rwhp= flywheel kw.. loosely give or take a bit... therefore wouldnt 270 rwhp make for around 270 at the fly?

AFR's look ok at 12:1, i know forced induction like abit more fuel so it may be able to take abit more. The first run seems dangerously lean at what looks like around 14-14.5:1. SteadyED is right it would have been easier to read if the AFR axis was set out better.

Thats an old school saying but it definately aint true. Neither is the statement that the car in question making 210rwkw has 300kw @ the f/wheel. More like about 250kw. Last dyno run i pulled 317rwhp which i think would make my engine around 285kw. General rule of the thumb and being more accurate is that you lose 17-20% power through the manual 5spd and 20-22% through an auto.

Example- If I was to have my engine rebuild & blueprinted, I'll have it develop on an engine dyno. say after a couple of engine tear downs between dyno runs, finally the builder made the perfect engine combo that made the best reading of 305fwkw out of the other runs. drop the engine in and away you go. a couple of weeks later you decide to squeeze a little bit more poke. you run it on the roller dyno and find out you've lost 31%, thats your first base run before the up grade! engine dyno=305fwkw, roller dyno=210rwkw. I think badcooky's would get a better reading if he was to run an intercooler or water/meth injection, & tune the air fuel ratio correctly. The lost is just a guide to give you an idea whats at the flywheel. the best way is engine dyno then roller dyno. just to let you know beforehand that its an expensive excise having it develop on an engine dyno. especially the time sorting out strong engine parts & tear downs for the perfect compination... parts & "TIME" $$$$$

on the episode of top gear when they did the 10,000p 1970's supercar challenge they had to dyno them to see how much hp they had lost over time... when they were on the dyno after the run, they did a "run down" on which the dyno measured the drivetrains resistance to convert rwhp to hp at the flywheel. as far as I understand it. Why dont we do that over here?

Did you mean over time as in the life of the engine? OR measurement over time as back to back runs with the bonnet closed?
