i do not want to root around trying to fit a box that is not meant to be there in its place, i like the idea of keeping the original crossmember, speedo drive, shifter, bellhousing, tailshaft etc...

i do not want a 4spd... i will (first preference) fit g-force staraight cut dog a***, or fit a R154 supra box...

yea, and have a huge price tag dont they?? and they require a conversion to fit them?

one thing that leans me towards the toploader is the sequential shifter, anyone actually used one?? is it really nice or does it feel like a 30yr old gearbox???

Yeah, guys are swapping them into early BA's for around the 5000 mark, Ive seen them sell for 3500 though.
Doesnt a dogbox go for similar money?

I reckon a toploader would be like rowing a boat man... what about an auto, built C4/C6?

it will remain manual for as long as i own it, the auto doesnt interest me. unless it was a competitive drag car..

i had the same thoughts about the top loader, its an old school box.

i can do what i want to do to my t5 for about $2300. this includes straight cut dog a***, matching countershaft, input shaft, upgraded mainshaft, billet coutershaft bearing retainer, billet shift forks... and id have to get a clutch plate with different splines or just get a different centre put in mine.

Ahh! Go te 3550 tremic or the TKO the T5 speedo pickup fits.. You'll require a different front yoke and different clutch plate.. The TKO is the modern 5 speed version of the top loader...

The more power you have the MORE an auto is better to drive even on the street...Even more so at the strip....

I'd much rather an auto, an Ive only got 280wkws... alot of the auto BA's are close to a second quicker than the manuals on the strip... but then again alot of tossers cant launch a manual

Ha I'm happy with TKO Its just low comp motor and lumpy cam at 1000 to 1800 lumpy add alittle throttle and power goes from 50 rw to heaps.. "ll end up replacing clutch's often... Or milder cam...I live on steep driveway and I need to slip clutch alittle. I know I'd be MUCH quicker over 1/4 with auto, as spool power doesn't come on strong till 3rd gear..I'm not keen on rpm over 3000rpm dumps... Some time with ecu and pre stage tuneing will help....But I'm not serious into drags...
They deffinately don't call torque converters torque converters for nothing.. The more power and torque the auto is more fun and easier...
