Hey Guys,

I am looking at buying an XF with a Toyota blower on it, but it seems very loud at idle.

Has anyone used one of these before that can tell me if thats normal or if its stuffed.

Also, its over driven and apparrently running about 6-8 psi max.....I didn't think they could go that high....I thought you could only get about 3-4 psi out of them.

Is this likely to make it die quickly???

Thanks,

Mike

do you know the exact model? some of those blowers are s**t, too small for an xf.

and what kind of a sound does it give off? a loud whining sound is not good.

No, don't know the exact model.

And yes, it sounds like a whining roots blower, just didn't think it would be that loud.(almost as loud as the motor when you're standing in front)

Its actually running all the time and he has a bypass valve on it which bypasses the boost back to the intake at idle. (Ie no original clutch on blower).

It has the standard EFI system on it with bigger injectors and recal'd airflow meter with a pod filter on the front, so I guess some of the loudness may be induction noise from the intake ?

Castlemaine rod shop sells the blower kits for commodore v6's,vl rb30 inline 6's and i think they got 1 for the 250 x flow as well as the 202.

These blowers all come off toyota 4agze motors and are reconed before they are sold in the kit. They run around 3-4 psi so they arent to harmful for the stock motor.

Great cheap powerup for under 2k IMO.

yeh i agree my mate got a v6 commy with 1 of them on it. his car is pretty stock az but the smart bugger out a switch to it to turn it on and off. all he has is a pod and exhaust and its still going for 4 yrs now. cranks the burnouts and drives the car pretty hard as well. yeh his is also round 3-4 psi.

You want the SC14 off the 1GGZE if anything, but it still is waaaay too small for the 4.0. The SC12 only pumps out 1.2 liters of air per rotation and the SC14 does 1.4
