porbably be easier to sell it and buy an XR6T.
Alternatively supercharge it with a capa kit. Or you could probably scrounge around and get all the XR6T stuff and fit it to yours. |

get an aftermarket turbo kit.. snort performances manifold fit BA..
benefits being better manifold than XR6T and option of bigger turbo and wastegate |

If you have access to it, check out a copy of the latest Perth Street Car magazine which has a Monaro with gull wing doors on the cover.
There is an XR6 in there that has been turned into an XR6+T with a difference. The turbo is mounted at the rear where the muffler should be (I think that is where they mounted it. Can't remember for sure off the top of my head). Apparently the setup works quite well, and isn't very laggy at all, especially considering how much piping there is. Retains complete stealth value under the bonnet too if that is in your interest.

I've seen this and read about rear mounting turbo's a bit, In the article they don't really mention the lag, and it is a lot of piping, but apparently if it is done well it seems to work alright. They had a dyno graph in the article as well that made it look a little laggy. The plus sides are that engine bay temps stay about the same as what it would be when NA. I'd be interested in what such a setup costs. Probably better off going supercharged though I think. |

Ive got a snort manifold on my NA BA motor with a GT51R.
Its not running yet. The conversion is definately doable and should be cheap if you can find standard parts cheap. Ie. I picked up a 3540 for $400 the other day. Stock manifolds should only be a few hundred. Get stock water and oil lines and an edit to tune it. If I was to do it again I would buy stock XR6T motor from FTG auto salvage. You will get everything you need for $5500ish. This way you get the better internals with lower compression and will be able to run up to around 330 rwkw with no dramas. |

fuel pump, injectors, fuel reg, intercooler, engine management. The last 1 is the hardest.

After that you would need an intercooler, intercooler piping and water and oil lines. Go for an aftermarket cooler and piping. A turbo fuel reg would help as well.
Then a capa edit so you can make sure it runs right. |

That turbo at the back is an interesting idea.
I know a bloke around here who owns the main performance shop in town. They are building up a VN SS stroked with all the fruit. Air cleaner hangin out the bonnet awesome car. Seen it getting around for a while now. Next stage they have started on is big f**k off turbo at the back underneath the car. This is absolutely crazy. This car was mad as before this, used to wheelspin off the lights in a drag till like 3rd gear. Hate to see it if this turbo fires up.

IIRC the XR6+T that I spoke of is a Bunbury one, so you may have seen it around and just not noticed it.

keep looking around, stock coolers are as cheap as $50.00! there common as s**t everyone wants to get rid of them now! one thing to condiser is the xr6t engine is different from that of the standard barra 6 as fitted in your xr6. different rods of something. which is why it would be a lot less hassle and probably better result to sell your xr6 and buy a xr6t. |

ive spent a fair bit of money modifying mine so far.
So selling it isin't really a good option. If i can turbo or supercharge it for 5k i will be very happy |
