Just don't boot it too often, 27.7L/100km....I think that's still below the consumption of a super pursuit ute (got a zing to that name, but still stupid) !!!! Remember reading an article on how poor its consumption was. Till I read that it was after a full day of heavy-right-footedness! So the three speed is starting to suffer? Ah! Between changing 1st to 2nd at 5000rpm! Would that be the problem right there?

Yeah it only complains on full boost and when its hot though, all other "normal" driving is sweet.

I was down the local car audio store today picking up my cortina with its new stezza etc and what do i see: a green ea falcon stock as a rock with a massive friggin intercooler being hid behind the bumper bar...!!!!!:):):)
I ask the audio guy who owns it and he points me in the right direction of a young chappy... Well him and his sister's bf or whatever decided to have a go at bolting a turbo on the side of the 4l and they end up with 150rwkw... They custom made their own exhaust manifold etc and intercooler piping and are running a t3. they have standard computer and 5psi. they are running some sort of fuel thingo which when under boost it makes a injector work which is in the intercooler piping after the intercooler. now this set up proves that on 5psi they can run standard computer and a bit more fuel and get a nice increase in power. he has been drivng it for over a year now and has done over 20,000k's. He has run it on 9psi but that is the limit of those computers he reckons. Dang it was cool, backyard turbo job - cost him 3g max he said. he is currently rebuilding a el engine with all the gear so he can put the boost on around 20psi... sorry to cut in but thought someone might be interested... peace |

I would love one, but my insurance company doesnt agree and i dont have the skills to do it myself Offtopic but would insurance cover custom turbo jobs such as these if they are not fully enginereed?

Depends. If the non-engineered setup is not considered legal, you havent got a hope in hell of the insurer paying a claim.

yeh, that is the problem i have now got to with my plans to SC/turbo my car, i can afford to DIY the thing, but once i have to get an engineering cert it kinda isnt much cheaper than a comaprable stor bought setup.

Yeah i think the actual certificate is about $450 but thats with everything passing first go i think and the engineer not having to do too much?
