Heck yeah! Make sure you take plenty, and if you need any help with the pictures, feel free to email them to me at iamsqueak@hotmail.com

Heres a few pics of sundays work... Intercooler is mounted, pipes are mostly done and ex manifold is 90% done. Next is to mount the turbo and wastegate and sort out the dump pipe and wastegate pipe.

Modified standard manifold with wastegate and exhaust housing trial mounting... manifold looks dodgy but its still to be cleaned up and heat treated... fingers crossed our welding is ok and doesnt leak

Crazy!
Good work, keep us up to date.

i don't mean to be an a***-hole here but the exhaust manifold just looks wrong.
it dosn't matter how i look at it or think about it, it's still just , well , wrong. you can buy the face plates from pacemaker and do you're self a favour and get some steam pipe and make some thing els |

Yes, I know I could do that... no harm in a guy trying is there? If it dont work then I will make a stainless manifold, but it should work... Ive seen worse work
What would you say is wrong? I'm not happy with the wastegate position... |

Personally id swap the wastegate and the turbo. See the flow from cylinder 4? It will still push pressure through the turbo, but it doesnt look like it will flow teribly good
Im interested in making up a manifold, and am interested in the faceplates from pacemakers. Does anyone have prices or something similar?? Sorry for the thread highjack, but it may come in handy one day

the turbo position is horrible, like the above post at leats swap the them around
you have 2 maybe 3 cylinders that could flow to the turbo properly. but basicly your relying on a pressure build up to get gas to actualy make it to the turbo. if you must use that manifold at least low mount the turbo where you have the waste gate. it seems as thow your not afraid of some fabrication and a face plate and some mild steel steam pipe will not cost much and you'll see huge gains from what you're planning to use, even with the simplest of log style manifolds that might take a day to fab up at the most. then move on to a semi tuned length setup with a few days work and you'll wonder why you though the first one was even an option. But like i said befor i don't want to sound like an a***-hole. I work in a performance shop and i've seen some pretty basic setups make good numbers. but you're only going to disapoint your self with that manifold |

Glad I am not the the only one to think it looks all wrong and the waste gate is where the turbo should be, other than that, good work and I hope it all works without problems.
Hmm sounds like I should get the two RX7IV turbos back for some twin fun, but having no funds will pull me up.

Cheers Trickford6, I just realized that there is a divider inside the runners so its back to the drawing board... atleast it was some good welding practice

EBXR8380 and EB2NOS do 6cyl manifolds. I bought one a while back. Top quality, and do the job. Could be a wortwhile $800, unless of course you insist on DIY, which I admire and respect

Id definatly go for one but due to now having to use an external gate instead of the internal gated turbo i was going to buy, I have 700 less in my budget, but its an awesome w'gate anyway
As for this manifold, I just cut off the section the gate was on and ground out the dividers inside the runners... now it should flow all towards the turbo... Im glad that was pointed out to me, many thanks guys. Ive welded a plate over that section and will weld on the w'gate flange so it will now face straight down |
