Hey guys
Was looking at buying a new turbo! The turbo i was after is a TA.45/51! Just wondering if anyone can provide me with any specifications on this turbo, such as wheels sizes etc Ive been told that the front is .71 and the rear is 1.54, but can anyone confirm? How late would this come onto boost on a 4.0L EF engine? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you Reehab |

T/A 45 would come on boost on a 5.8 liter engine at roughly 2600-3000rpm
I've also seen a T/A 45 come on boost on a 3 litre VL at roughly 5-5500rpm. Basic maths would suggest that it would build useable boost on a 4.0 at around 3700 and have built full boost by 4400rpm. With the right sized wheels and A/R this would come down quite a bit. |

its a big turbo, i'd say only use it if you're searching for big power.
i've seen a few go cheap since most people arnt aware of what they're capable of or what they are.

they also come with a 1.32a/r turbine housing. there is a el on fullboost.com with the ta45 it runs 10s 1/4s. snort did a kit for a guy with a ef with this turbo and it made 392rwkw. so it seems like a good option. im still a big fan of the gt35/40r and to4z with a .70a/r comp and 1.06, 1.15a/r turbine they would be a bit more drivable and still good for 420-500rwkw.

Yes, very big unit... awesome for a drag motor built to redline at 7500, but not too drivable on a street car with a 5000rpm redline

Thanks for all your help guys!
As been advised on here and also from others, this turbo is way to large for my application and I have now settled for a t04 high flow! Thanks for all your help guys |

yeah they are fair large turbos in size and the TA45 is a bit miss matched in terms of wheel size
as theyre made for trucks they have a large flowing rear wheel and housing but the front wheel isnt as big to match. mine has 64mm front wheel and all TA45/51 have 71mm rear wheel. ppl high flow these turbos using 74-76mm comp wheels i just dont want to fit it and put up with the lag if its only going to pump out 250rwkw lol i dont mind upping the boost to get it into its efficiency range, just hard to find info of anyone still using them.
