how to fix turbo lag
smaller turbo or something else?? iv noticed the ba-bf's have massive turbo lag and when there worked its worse what about the turbo used on the fg xr6t that seems to have no turbo lag any reason why?

Take the turbo off. No turbo, no turbo lag.

But it eliminates turbo lag by 100%?

Its the best way mate. Any other way will give you lag. This gives you 100% guaranteed no lag.

hahaha yeah, the FG XR6 turbos have smaller turbos witch spool up quicker...

What I understand (people can correct me) that the smaller you go with a turbo the less lag you get but alas less power etc. If you can control revs and alike you will get minimal lag but you still will get lag... just go supercharger

Look if you think the 4.0 has bad turbo lag go drive a jap 4 banga, then you'll realise the 4.0 doesnt have 'lag' as such, as they still move off boost, its just that when a turbo starts cramming some compressed air down its throat it livens the f**k up! |

Turbo lag yes is evident in BA/BF T's. The embarrasing thing is my old mans AU II Ghia beats my BA of the mark until she spools then the AU is Breakfast. Unless i stall it up and turn traction off which i wont do cause i dont treat my car like s**t.
But yes the FG has a smaller turbo and less piping and a bigger cooler which basically fixed the lag issue. Ive enquired if the FG piping can be put on the BA and the answer is no. So if you want less lag then a bigger cooler, and less piping on BA/BF is the go right way to start.

lol oh dear...
mate get a drive in a car that has an upgraded turbo. ie, something with a GT42 you will see what turbo lag is but lag is more noticable with the more power you make simply because of the difference between vac and positive pressure when you run big boost. its a fact of a turbo car, similar to running a huge cam in an n/a car, but more power

no turbo = constant lag.
try this, it might help. get a supercharger/turbo set up and a high stall and a transbreak and a higher diff ratio and a umm. in all seriousness, due to the nature of turbo's and the concept of how they work, their will always be lag. even motors have optimal torque in a certain range of rpm, electricity will give you perfect linear torque

Higher compression helps or has better throttle response..
Going to a smaller turbo doesn't always help.. Smaller turbines will actually choke when spooled up.. Auto's tend to have far less lag due to load from converter...

cheers for some good answers
yer i notice how the ba-bf's turbo takes them to get to 70-80km to kick in, after driving the fg xr6t i dident feel any lag i was thinking of the ba xr6t engine then replace the turbo with the one from the fg if i can get it soon il have some 3.7's dif and possibly a 2500high stall
