Are there aftermarket turbo manifolds for the windsors out there?
..Or is a custom made one the only option? Cheers. |

Yep custom or import... Yep, sorry guys exhaust is what i meant.. But yeah, are there any decent ones in the states worth importing? Or am i better off get a set custom made? Also, what should i expect to pay either way? So approx 1500 custom? Would that be a good job tho? Decent welding, etc? Import $? |

Long term the best bet is to get custom headers made from tick walled steel(steam pipe), they are heavy as sin but will last a lot longer than std headers. Go to someone that is very experienced and has a good reptation.

What type are you expecting?? We have made half each side but I was promised a loan of accessaries bracket so I could clearance them..But as usual didn't deliver...I have roller block, heads to fab on engine stand...

What type am i expecting? I dont know for sure, as i dont understand the differences/particulars between the different types available.. I was kind of hoping for some suggestions/recommendations between the different types available.. Do you fabricate them yourself??? |

V8's are much harder to make due to VERY tight clearances...There's alot of variables also in turbo flange size etc...Imo a log style is good enough...

Exactly, on most turbo motors a log style manifold is very effective. Its only when you go chasing every last kw that a serious manifold benifits, and with such a large motor to start off with a smooth flowing log style will provide huge power support.
Its really only the small cc jap motors that benefit from tuned manifolds due to the fact that they are usually trying to spool a very large turbo and aiming for 300wkw from 2 or so liters. We have the advantage of being able to keep things simple and still ending up with far more power than is needed on the street |

Right !!! Don't get cought up in so called "PUB" talk...
If it isn't making decent power..Chances are its not the exhaust manifold... Pluss I bet a simple design would make enough power to split block anyway...To say nothing about transmissions etc!!!...

Sounds good! Im glad i dont have to be SO fussy with manifold design then, if a good log design will do!
And i already know about the weaknesses of the block & transmission, hence the reason ill be running relatively low boost to start with.. But i can only imagine how tempting it will be to wanna up the boost ay! lol What would be the maximum amount of power that i should run the car at? To save T5 mainly.. The cars only just done 90,000kms -> el xr8 |

Oh yeah, a couple more important question that i forgot to ask before..
1. I currently only have the E7 heads on my car which i will be replacing sometime down the track after the turbo setup. But i was wondering, if i got a set of turbo exhaust manifolds custom made up for the heads currently on my car, will i need a new manifold made when i upgrade my heads down the track? Or will they still fit with the aftermarket heads? (most prob. will be using trickflows).. 2. Will i NEED to replace my head gaskets durin the turbo install? Ie. better quality/thicker to lower comp, etc? ..Or will i be able to get away without doing this until i upgrade the heads in the future? Thanks. |
