As said depends if you want to wait for a BA turbo, and hot that up, or if you want to do it all yourself, and end up with an illegal car (WGAF tho).
I'd go an EF Futura (no bias?), with a snort kit. Could get it sorted, on the road for well under $10k including purchasing the car. |

I got half way through turboing my old EF, was gonna get it engineered and everything, i can find the link to the build thead if ya want.. But then i decided to get a BA XR6T, alot easier to get power out of!! haha plus a newer car is always better

Is it really much harder to remove a turbo setup compared to a supercharger?
Change exhaust manifold - done! When you install it, just make sure it's all flanged in the right spots so your extractors will bolt straight back up to the cats.

Injected LPG does. And the new generation systems are supposedly able to support 500+rwKW on a 6 cylinder.

People raved about Straight LPG on pre-VL's and XF's because it was a work around to emmisions laws. post 87 cars still need emmisions testing on LPG, so some of that benefit goes out the door. as for Injected LPG being an option.. its very difficult to justify the ~$4-5k outlay. $4-5k is a lot of coin that could be spent on some other EFI hardware.

why not do both ! as for dedicated gas injection its not possiable without the fuel system as the gas system fires on fuel first till the vehicle warms up enough and then the gas cuts in ......

I've found two possible project cars, both automatic (I want manual, but that can be part of the project right?) a 1991 EB Falcon and a 1996 EL Falcon, $500 and $1900 respectively, what would be the better choice? The EB has paint peeling off its bonnet and roof, plus has that crappy 3.9L motor but it is $1400 cheaper, the EL paint looks alright and has the 4.0, both have 370,000km on them, so I'm guessing an ACL rebuild kit wouldn't go astray, or would I need something much more stronger for a mild turbo/supercharger build? I'm guessing a paint job and motor from a wrecker is going to cost more than $1400 anyways unless I get a backyard job or attempt it myself.
What are your opinions? |
