hey all,
had my xr6t for a few months now and slowly getting to know the cars ins and outs, replacing all the parts the original owner failed to get done in the cars service life, and in doing so i pulled off the intake piping to check the condition of it and find out i had to clean it out, found alot of oil and misty sludge in the piping and the turbo front having oil on it replaced the oil return line and filter but i believe the damage is done, their is quite alot of thrust play in the shaft does anyone know a good place to get turbo's rebuilt in Adelaide and does anyone know a rough cost to be done compared to a new turbo ?? Cheers

tezza, all turbo cars will have a bit of oil in the intake and at the housing, this is quite normal. If you remove the oil cap from the r/cover can you see black carbon/soot on the rockers, or even black snot in the oil return line?

the oil line was pretty gummed up with crap, i would say its the genuine one, done 133,000 k so its had a fair amount of oil passed through it,
the oil in the intake was more of a small pool of oil lyin around, if thats normal i would say these are a poorly made turbo power wise she is still pretty good, i havent noticed any major power loss since ive owned it

I was pretty surprised when I took the intake off my ED. After speaking with prof turbo repairers anything upto 1 tbl spoon of oil sitting in the front housing of the turbo is very normal.

The cost of buying cra ??? It almost better to buy a new turbo......
Check overhaul price and reco ?? About $200 difference !!! Keep fresh oil in engine...Always let it idle down for a few seconds after a fang.. Some meth / water mix helps keeping cra / inlet temps cool... Check or search aquamist / water / meth injection ....
