Good luck. I don't know of any engineered Turbo E-Series in Vic.

Check the Vicroads website for VASS approved signatories.
Most engineers will do it. All the vic ones will require an emissions test. |

As the engineer if you can get around the emissions test by using the stock ECU, if you still have it in your car. I'm in consult with a VASS engineer up in Bendigo in regards to my turbo might boy project, but i don't require an emissions test for compliance. Just all the other stuff like retain factory emissions gear, don't cut too much body work for pipes, don't have the FMIC hanging out so it can hurt someone & so on. Cheers ToranaGuy

Is it unroadworthy to run aftermarket? it will only be deemed un roadworthy if it dont meet emissions of the vehicly year.. the problem engineering with aftermarket ecu's is that once it has passed emissions test the tune can be modified and wont meet emisions anymore(unless the ecu is locked), but you do have a better chance of getting an engineer to pass it without emission test if your running std ecu and emissions..but i would say that you will have to go for emission no matter what.. i got my supercharged ed engineered without an emisions test,keeping the factory ecu.. but aparently"taxi 50l" enquired with the same engineer to get his turbo eb engineered with the factory ecu and he was told to get an emission test |

Cause that was my plan give it a retarded tune then change it back

it would be easy to pass the emision test with the aftermarket ecu, as it can be de tuned..to run lean..
but weather they will allow it knowing that the ecu's tune can be changed as soon as you leave??.. i know that ems ecu's have a feature that they can be locked for tuning purposes and the tune cant be accessed unless a code is entered.. so i guess it depends on the engineer aswell as the emission tester.. but there are guys out there with aftermarket ecu's that have passed emissions, so it is possible.. the killer is in some states the emission test cost heaps... that may be why a lot of turbo cars are not engineered... |

Yeah the emissions test here cost you an arm and a leg to do.

An engineers cert will cost you thousands of dollars and a lot of bother.
Just blow the thing, insure with Shannons (without an engineers mod, they are ok with this), my el with lowered suspension, sway bar, xr6 turbo, log manifold, intercooler and all the pipe work, to insure, $395, im currently paying $450 for insurance without the turbo!! So insurance is not a problem, with Shannons, as long as you are old enough to have them insure you (23 i think it is) ring and ask, its just a phone call. Another thing, is cops can still hassle you even when you have an engineers cert waving in there face. Best thing in my opinion, your covered with you insurance, your car runs boosted, you get pulled over? Be nice, polite and dont get caught doing anything wrong ie, do it on back-back roads where no one will know (I know its hard)
