Hi Ford fans,
I was thinking of adding a turbo set up to my BA XR6 NA. i have seen supercharger setups that just bolt on. is the same thing possible with a turbo? what is involved in doing this. My engine has 138k and is serviced every 5k, and is in really good nick.

Get all the parts off a BA xr6 turbo or typhoon. It would be all bolt ons I'd imagine .
Or get a complete dohc turbo motor and drop it in

You would be better off just dropping a turbo six into it rather then putting a turbo on your n/a motor. Or just sell your car and go buy a XR6T. Your n/a motor has higher comp then the turbo motor wich is a bad thing. Also the bottom end is not as strong

Best option if you wanted to keep yours would be to drop a Turbo motor in which can be had for about 5K with ECU and that way you wouldnt even need to get the car custom tuned.

You can use Turbo bits on your NA motor, which is just as strong as a BA Turbo engine. No difference apart from the comp and exhaust valves (inconel). AFAIK rods are the same which are the weak link. I know of the 3 Converted NAs running over 300rwkw and one has been running like this for the past 3 years and driven hard. No problems yet (apart from the auto which cried enough but has now been rebuilt). Its still using the m78 diff as well.

A good tune goes along way and 9.7:1 comp isnt bad. With a good tune and intercooling system it will work well and be more responsive than a genuine T on and off boost.

Our sponsors Athol Park are doing a drive in drive out conversion for $5450 with 3 month warranty which is excellent value for money.

sell your ba xr6. buy a bf xr6T.
Might cost a bit more than 5K ontop of your ba sale figure but you get all the turbo bits. plus bf turbo motor has typhoon internals.
