the quarterhorse works on the 6 cylinder also ( live tune ) however you wont have access to the live dash/datta logging ect as there isnt a patch ( adx file ) created for them . for this reason i wouldnt recommend the quarterhorse as 50% of its intended purpose is not able to be used ( unless someone creates the adx file to suit
the v8 platform is a very differant story as the qaurterhorse can be used to its full potential the usa guys have made the patch codes to suit |

One thing I did forget to mention, if your doing DIY tuning you will need a wideband o2 sensor so that you can get your AFR's.
Personally I would recommend the Innovate units, personal preference. |

You will also need to upgrade to a EF/EL serpentine belt setup. Will make it a lot easier to run the supercharger.

Much appreciated with all the advice. I Gotta ask, with the Chips and such, what would be the easiest way to go?

My recommendation would be to go with the Moates F3 (J3) Chip. {USERNAME} wrote: You will also need a chip to tune the ECU.
Look at the Moates site and see the gear there. http://www.moates.net/ford-19862004-c-63.html You will need their F3 Chip (J3) http://www.moates.net/f3-ford-memory-ad ... l?cPath=63 and also the Jaybird Programmer http://www.moates.net/jaybird-j3-module ... l?cPath=63 If you want to read your stock ECU and dump the Binaries etc then you will need the Burn2 Programmer http://www.moates.net/burn2-chip-progra ... l?cPath=63 and also the FA Adaptor http://www.moates.net/fa-ford-module-pr ... l?cPath=63 You will only need either the Jaybird or the Burn2, you won't need both. You can then use Tunerpro to do your tuning. I am using the Quarterhorse but I won't go recommending that yet for the 6cyl as I still have further work to do to ensure that every thing works on the Live tuning side. Car is currently running on the Quarterhorse but with a cost difference of $135/160 for the F3 set up and $250 for the Quarterhorse, if the live tuning doesn't work then you have blown $100. I also purchased Binary Editor when I got my Quarterhorse so that added to the cost If you don't want to go through Moates US, then contact BPR in Melbourne, nice guy but can be a little odd. He will help you out. http://www.bulletperformanceracing.com. ... dware.html |

So an F3 chip and jaybird would be the best/easiest option?

From what i can see, that combo looks the easiest to setup. Yeah, the quarterhorse would be good, but like ya said, not much point if ya don't have the patch.

At least I don't have to pull it out to make changes . I can do it straight from the laptop to the ECU. Even while the car is running. Will make it easier to tune on the Dyno. |

Yeah, i guess being able to tune in place via laptop could be a good option. Question is what it would cost to get a patch made to utilise the whole system
