Now I see what you mean regards the difference in Boost. A Lot more difference than you'd think isn't it?

Mate I haven't read much to this point I've read the title and a few posts , so here's my 02.
Mad power yes get a turbo. But for everyday one of these Raptors is a really good thing. I'm home tuned and she's been dynoed at 272 RWKW , I've just put a billet impeller in it and it's got more grunt everywhere, home tuned it's still on the stock tune I've just moved the cars parameters around underneath it. We weren't getting great figures for the first few years with the Raptors because most tuners were screwing it up all they knew was turbo tune tables , so when Peter went to that place at Archerfield in Brissy Elite tuning . He got 265 RWKW with a set up I thought was not great for top end power through a smaller header diameter at the collector where they all come together 2 1/2 not 3 inches or more and a few other things I wasn't much into , I started thinking and tweaking and came up with 272RWKW and awesome torque on my own tune just put on a dyno and away we go, the lads are now all close or over 300RWKW. STOCK tune home grown dude. I've had mine on for 6 years now and it's still going strong my sig says it all she's a dirty old BAXL 4 sp column shift auto no tranny cooler no intercooler but she gets going all right. Cheers talk to Tim even if you go turbo or another product we are ol school dude we rock. By the way the Spitfire plane engine had a two speed supercharged Merlin engine in it .

Well Ive talked to a couple of people, and if I can get about 200Kw at the rears I will be happy. I Am going to go with the supercharger. gonna go with an Eaton M90. The AU Motor is gonna get a going over, and tickled, etc with boost in mind. Plan is to make sure I can show those wannabe commonwhore drivers what a *REAL* Car can do

Are those things even running reliably yet , they've been going to do it for the last 6 years and last I heard they had all given up. Is there a couple of runners with numbers up on the site ?

One of the guys I've been talking to has done pretty much the same setup i'm planning, but onto a fairlane instead.

An Eaton blower would be real nice on a 6cyl falcon but the fab work would be the biggest deal breaker for most people wanting to give it a crack. It's far more intense then welding tubes together (as in exhaust manifold for a turbo).

Hi there, just signed up to this site, and my first post.
I have a 04 BA xr6, and also thinking about supercharging, but not sure whether to go centrifical or positive displacement. I do have a question, it might sound funny, but if i understand correctly, a centrifical blower is basically a turbo, but driven by a belt rather than exhaust gases. If that is correct, and if it doesn't spin as fast as a turbo, can you change the pulley ratios, or possibly install a intermediate pully to make the blower spin faster?? Thanks, and any advice would be appreciated. |

Yes you can step it up like how you suggested. In the states some of the early 10.5 cars had a gear drive off the crank driving a centrifugal blower so the potential is there. But there is more to it than spinning the blower as hard as you can to make boost. Blowers, like turbo's are limited by their physical characteristics. You need to see their compressor maps in order to make an informed choice.

a 250 rwkw turbo 4.0 and a 250 rwkw supercharged 4.0 will feel vastly different. The supercharged engine will feel like it has better throttle response, but the turbo will have more power under the curve, despite making the same peak KW.
All things remaining equal the super will get the jump, but the turbo will pack the mid range punch that gives acceleration actual meaning.

There is a big difference between the way they build boost. Regardless of what power adder you are running the most affective boost controller is the throttle itself. |
