I'm considering forced induction for my EF XR8, have seen heaps of supercharged v8's, and only a couple of turbo ones. I'm trying to find out info on pricing for both routes...
Can anyone point me in the right direction? cheers

If you can afford the time and effort as well as $$$ go the turbo.
If you want the ease, still very good top end and reasonable quick to install go a centrifugal blower. A 347 would naturally have alot down low torque wise, a Vortech would be great for its mid/top end.

so the turbo setup would be more expensive than the blower?

belt driven centrifugals shouldnt be labeled as supercharger cos they operate the same as a turbo.

the trend for making power is to keep it all up top and gear it all up to suit, but a roots lobe or screw type supercharger can deliver througout the whole rpm range from idle to redline. if the car is setup right it has alot of advantages over a turbo engine.

go the twin turbo..... something different imo..... Commando is selling a TT kit for the windsor if i'm not mistaken......
No doubt a charger, like a vortech, would prob be easier with regards to piping etc

Actually mate, turbochargers are a form of supercharger. They're just gas driven. You also get chain driven superchargers (they're turned off the engines timing chain). The term supercharger originally refers the the thing compressing the air, but these days people usually only associate it with the belt driven units. |

The term supercharger originally refers the the thing compressing the air, but these days people usually only associate it with the belt driven units. Actually the turbocharger's name refers to the Turbine used to create the compress air via exhaust gasses. Even early planes had different forms of both, due to air being so thin at high altitude, they even developed "superturbo chargers" just to get the air in at such high altitude. Probably the P51 B/C was the aircraft that pretty much used this more than any other. On that note It really does depend on how good your fabrication skills are (and patience). I would be going the turbo, Just because of the fact I havent, there is so many cars on corral.net that had prochargers and v1 t trim blowers making awesome power, only to hook up a pair of huffers and adding alot more horsepower and torque and having timeslips to reflect it. Also depends how legal you want it as well, I'd imagine engineering for a turbo V8 to be a minefield compared to a blower.

if i had a v8 it would be a whipple supercharger. nice and neat and loads of balls. TT would be a lot of work. stuff centri supers, go the whipple. make the power early and your infront, and not revving your engine to get to it.
