Hey guys,

A mate of mine is giving me his TT Soarer motor...

He had low oil and still kept fanging with (dumb i know) but i scored his motor, Turbos, intercooler and all the piping... i realise the motor and the piping are useless. but the turbos and intercooler... they should be still useable... the Turbos still spool which is a good sign.

i'm taking it as a punt that the turbos even two of them won't have enought balls for my I6? and if they did would it be a big firking pain in the hole to set up?

Cheers

Josh

soarers are a straight 6 1jz. if you could do the engine management side I can't see why 2 ct12's couldn't get a 4 litre moving, but you'd need a custom manifold.
They can only run 14psi before they start to fall apart though, and most of them are coming up to their useby date by now... so probably not worth it as they're expensive to rebuild.

would you recommend selling them off and use the funds to get a turbo that would suit my XT?

if the turbo's were starved of oil then they wont last long, especially since on an 4L i6 they will come onto boost very quickly and thus wear out ven faster.
If it can work you will need a very big wastegate to vent a lot of exhaust gases at higher RPM so as not to overspeed the turbo's.
You will probably need a very strong manifold as well because there will be a lot of backpressure fromt he undersized turbo's

Was it a 1J or a 2J motor?

f**k rich bastard with a 98 model soarer.
Would have been a VVT-i 1jz. That said, as far as I know, all the late model soarers have singe turbo setups... are you sure it's a 98 model?

Stock soarer turbos will only fetch about $400 probably, no one wants the ceramics as they can't handle boost.
