Hello,

From other guys with experience...

Is a water cooled turbo much prefered over a non water cooled turbo?

Any reasons? Or is it neither here nor there?

Only looking at around 9psi and 200 rwkw is my aim...

Then main benefit i can see would be a shorter cool down time. but like everything, it will last with maintenance (regular oil changes) I have just converted to w/c garrett, but i think my cool down time will stay the same, roughly 20 seconds, with normal driving.....

Bush bearing turbo's...some flog out, some last, depends on the material of the bushing and the treatment.....

So if your driving hard, what sort of cool time would you allow then?

20 secs makes all the difference?

i first bush bearing turbo died.after about a year .

if your gonna spend the $$ get a ball bearing turbo , they will last longer and and perform better .

cool down times will be shorter .

hey tim, water cooled turbo's are used so maintenance intervals can be extended. the water cooling prelongs "coking" in the turbo if ur not up to date with the oil changes. i've been told that water cooled turbo's are generally the "cheaper" variety

So as long as you always keep on top of oil changes (which most enthusiasts do anyway) they are ok?
