It will come down to the safety of your tune during hotter months. These kits if pushed HARD can suffer from heat soak and that reduces power and can cause detonation in your engine if it isnt tuned correctly. If you were to do a w2a kit, you'll be not only be getting more power, but also reliable power what ever the ambient temperature. There will be less chance for heat soak, detonation in fuel, and you have it all under the bonnet.

This can aid them to turn the boost and timing up on their cars to run quicker times. Basically, the colder the air, the denser it is, the denser it is, the power you can make. Heat is the enemy of power. Have cold air entering the engine, and you can afford to add more timing which in turn will increase more power.

i dont know if there is a 3" off the shelf system available.. but i had one custom made for my ed using redback muflers...

My advice it look on ebay as Troy has said for a deal or check out your local exhaust shop and ask them. Cheaper brands like Redback are affordable and made from mild steel and will certainly to the job of a Raptor.

Any exhaust shop will do a 3inch system for you. Just call a few or drop in and compare prices/products.

Don't get hot don't ping just goes good.

Hey cooky, while I cant speak for your setup, I know with mine on just a 7psi pulley in traffic, I can feel the heat reduce power. Maybe with your 13lb pulley you may not feel it as much, but I definitely do with mine. I cant explain how. BUt if you have any ideas on why, Id be keen to know.
I'll leave it up to the OP to take the course he wants.

Dude wrap your headers to the max.
Get an 82 degree thermostat. The inlet on the blower that accepts the head breather use it as another air inlet,i run a filter right beside the air con line with a sleeved vent to it so it pulls a little cool air in through the head unit. Every little bit helps man.

Thanks Cooky. Im gonna run ACL heat shield over the headers very soon. I think it needs it regardless. The engine bay is far too hot for my liking as it is.
Do you have a pick of your setup you are describing for me to look at?

I'll leave it up to the OP to take the course he wants. Non-intercooled centrifugal blowers will definately suffer heat soak, despite venting, etc (which as cooky said does help). They're cooler than turbos, which use hot exhaust to spin them, but there's no getting past a hot engine bay putting heat into the blower/intake pipework/inlet manifold....they'll always get warmer as an engine reaches operating temp, particularly in traffic. In addition boost creates heat so the more you pulley it up, the hotter it gets. Be it turbo or supercharged, compressing the air will also heat that air, potentially causing pinging, and a power drop. I notice a significant difference on my engine between a cold day, when its driven freely, or when it sits for ages in traffic (really bogs down and loses throttle response and power). I've seen the difference across 3 years of driving my car non-intercooled. Intercooling (particularly water/air) is the best way around this! Joe
