Hot water heads over to the storage tank. Tank replaces battery which resides in the boot. Stored water gets drawn though cooler mounted at front, it has it's own fan. The water pump is mounted to the side where is pumps the cold water to the back of the cooler at the top. I wired my Fan and pump of the fuel pump circuit. This set up made 361rwkw on 95 octain. Hey mate i was just wondering where u got all your stuff from. Cheers stuart Forgot to say, LTDHO, that is a great setup! Looks super efficient with where the core sits in relation to blower outlet vs. TB....effectively no extra bends, and such short plumbing. Serious power too....did you have a figure before cooler was fitted, or did you make a lot of changes in one go? Joe

Shav....
Will the charger fit in it's intended position with an ED log manifold?? Maybe mount it up a bit higher, and run the cooler over the intake similar to mine and then to the T/B??? Cheers Daz

Ah the old subaru intercooler, is there anything it can't do/fit?

I did everything but the aluminum work. {USERNAME} wrote: LTDHO - thanks for those pics mate. You have a pretty awesome setup. that core unit looks like it fits well under the bonnet.. No worries Shav, It all fitted surprisingly well. I am very happy with it. {USERNAME} wrote: Forgot to say, LTDHO, that is a great setup! Serious power too....did you have a figure before cooler was fitted, or did you make a lot of changes in one go? Joe Thanks Joe, Works very well. I’m very happy with the way it lines up. I went W2A because I didn’t want the lag of long piping. I bought the upper cooler and made it work. Had to cut and weld. The power was an accident, I designed and built it with plans on making 300 even. It made that with ease. {USERNAME} wrote: Ah the old subaru intercooler, is there anything it can't do/fit? Yeah I sae it and thought it would fit with some mods. I didn't think it would flow so much! in fact I thought it would restrict my 300! Shav, sorry for stealing ya thread! |

LTDHO, is there a particular reason why you decided to go from the core to the storage tank and then the heat exchanger? I thought the convention was to go from the core to the heat exchanger and then finally to the storage tank/ice box, thus limiting heat soak.

Cheers Daz Its entirely possible Daz, but how do I know an ED log manifold will fit and run well on the AU motor and ecu? I like the idea though and it sounds plausible

LTDHO - no probs mate, as long as this thread stays on topic I have no issue with you hijacking it for a bit.

{USERNAME} wrote: {USERNAME} wrote: I reckon shav's cooler will look neat sitting between the centrifugal outlet and the T/B. just a matter of fabricating the right intake tube bents so that everything looks symmetrical. It'll be less fiddly plus less piping for plumbing. Slick, I'm pretty sure it won't fit there on an AU. I looked at the option with the straight core, but there isn't even enough space beside the bbm to fit that water pump. Would be so easy if it fitted there though! I think the way Tim at raptor has run it is the only way the straight through core will fit. Sorry mate, didn't see your post. here I am pushing the issue out of curiosity. what about shav idea? here's an example I can recollect from his post the last time I read it?!? plus adding a couple of pre-intercooler cooling pipes. http://www.frozenboost.com/stpg.php?pag ... a8cb38e331 engine bay courtesy of TROYMAN.

gee that engine bay looks fantastic..
sigh!!! in my case it wont fit in that position. my 3" pipe just clears the bonnet by mm,s |

Hahaha, there's only 95mm clearance from the top of the rocker cover and the rubber weather strip at the firewall end of the BA.
might have to go with the original idea but only if you replace the aircond pipe with flexible braided lines. might also have to relocate electrical wirings, brackets & ABS pipes lines as well, even if you have to custom bend new ones so it'll hug the the firewall.

Apparently EB-ED log manifolds flow pretty well with a bit of the ol' boost........

The type 20 log intercooler would of been ideal I reckon. might still be a tight fit but it'll fit were you want it with some minor mods.
