Hi all,i have been currentlly working on ways to intercool the raptor v without adding any length to the pipe work, and i have found what i believe to be the best place intercooler wise, wich is to sit it along side the intake plenum.
The best intercooler i could find that would fit in this location was the plazmaman 500hp w2a kit. Frozen boost and pwr coolers were either to big to fit in this location,or a good size but didnt flow enough to suport the raptor. The plazmaman gear is top quality stuff, they have a friend/mate that is running this very same kit on a 700hp v8 without the hint of trouble, they desighn there core`s in such a way that allows them to get this kind of flow in such a small compact unit, they are miles in front of there competition, the only reason there a tad on the pricey side is because of the quality material they use,and all there gear is hand made. Plus using this very same kit, there wrx test car made an extra 35kw over there very own air to air intercooler that was previously in the car . Here is the 500hp kit. I have not as of yet put the kit on my car.But i have prefitted everything to make sure it all fitted, here is a pic on were the intercooler will sit. And this image shows the height as you really cant have anything higher than your current intake piping after the supercharger, the intercooler itself is 114mm tall by 90mm wide,i tried mounting the 114mm in height but the bonnet was hitting.

That will work a treat mate! Very short intake path and a cool mounting position.

Hahahaha, look at all that room!
Shorter the distance the better I reckon. plus less headache to install. Do you have any idea how efficient that W2A is? looks a little smaller then the one we were debating in this thread. ford-turbo-supercharger-f22/water-to-air-intercoolers-t82503.html

Thanks guys, yeah there isnt a great deal of room lol.
Yes the intercooler was pretty much just drop it straight in there, but the heat exchanger had to be measured and made to the dimensions of what would fit behind my front grill,i couldnt quite fit the one shown in the picture above so,the new one i had custom made was made taller, but 50mm shorter in width so it still worked out to be the same size in area thow. What do you mean by effecient....do you mean boost drop? The one you see in that thread is the frozen boost long flow 600hp....way to big for where i wanted the cooler to sit...i got the measurments of the cooler from shav and made up a cardbourd template and there was no way it would fit along side the intake runners,i think shav did very well mounting that monster were he did, well done to him.

by how much would you expect this to drop intake temps?

I was told it will take the temps down to around 28 degrees....im not sure what they are now but there definantly not 28 degrees.
Timing had to be taken out on my last custom tune because of my 10:7:1 pistons,so hopfully after the intercooler goes on i can run full timing again plus all the added benifits you get with intercooling.

I have just fitted most of the kit over the weekend, heat exchanger water pump and ran most of the hoses....came up very nice,oh and i also relocated the superchargers cooling fan behind the right hand side front grill.

Spray it black and would make it more of sleeper.
Very nice work, if I ever charge my falcon I will be doing something similar.

Thanks dormanAU it took me about 200 cable ties and most of the weekend to do haha .... im not really after the sleeper look ,because the sound of the blower really gives it away lol,the rest of the car also has abit done to it body wise,so its abit far gone for the sleeper look.

Will be very interested in seeing how this goes, I'm looking at twin turboing my v8 panelvan and will do a similar set up to keep minimal piping.

Have any idea what the air temperature at the blower outlet is? with a small intercooler like that, I'll be looking at adding a water/methylated injection system for maximum benefit.

Im not sure what the air temp after the blower is no....but its producing 13 psi so i dont think it will be running at 28 degrees.
Plazmaman will be doing some tests on the car when its complete to see the results it achieved. The intercooler is good for 500hp and they have a cutomer who is running the 500hp intercooler on a 700hp v8 without any trouble,so i dont think i will go for the water meth idea but im sure it wouldnt hurt
