lol, save the hassles, quick run down
EDIS, stands for Electronic Distributorless Ignition System, fords way of saying 3 channel ignition module which runs 3 doubled ended coils in wasted spark mode, it has no distributor, the ecu recieves signals from the crank and cam sensors to work out when to fire the coils COP, stands for Coil On Plug, an inition sytem like the majority of japanese cars, and even seen here in our BA-BF falcon, it just means instead of a remote mounted coil which has plug leads running to the spark plugs, the coils are combined into a small device which sits on the plug, it is the coil and ign lead all on one SPOUT, is another ford term, stands for, Spark Output, in a TFI system, your ecu reads the hall sensor inside the dizzy, calculates when it wants to fire the coil, sends a small pulse signal via the spout wire to the tfi, the tfi senses the pulse, and then knows its time to fire the coil... BTW, if the spout signal goes missing, the tfi will fire on the rising edgoe of the chopper disc, therefore, reverting to base ign timing of 10deg BTDC Direct Fire, means you have one coil per spark plug i find it hard for it to go in and out your ears, especially when your reading it, lol, read it over and over

oh, forgot..
TFI, ford term meaning Thick Film Ignition. just another name for an igniter/module.. its the module mounted on the dizzy of our falcons

Haha, you know what i mean! Good information there, thanks for the explanation. Now...what about the rest? Lol. |

I have Haltech ignitors and Mitsi Evo coils...
One tooth [now] in dissy for cam sensor.. Motec crank sensor on front pulley... latter will fit Dis-4 ignition system...

the ba cop will have built in ignitors, i dont know of any ecu that has a built in ignition module/ignitor... the reference to low side driver would mean it controls the low side of the coil, and an ignitor bridges the gap between high and low
