For my Capa 6psi powerdyne kit. I've got the plastic one that came with the kit, but was hoping to put a silver metal one in rather to keep with the engine bay looks.
Now I already have a Turbosmart Dual Port BOV that I've had for ages. Just wondering if it's too large to use? It's the bottom one on this page - http://www.turbosmart.com.au/index.php?id=48 . Otherwise any recomendations on which to use? |

It should be fine , i've got that exact one on my car at the moment (borrowed it from LTDHO)
i've usually got the plastic bosch one on my car and it works fine, the turbosmart one has a stiffer spring in it (can be adjusted) but it works fine on my car. what outlet size is your BOV? the bosch one is 25mm, whats the turbosmart one you've got?

Get the biggest you can afford. The idea is to vent ALL the turbos air ( as you know ) and a big motor/turbo combo needs a biffer than 25mm bov to vent all its air, especially if your running around 10psi.
I have the stock bov on my xr6t and on 9psi it cant vent all the air... you can hear the air coming back through the turbo, but on 5psi (stock tune) you hear nothing. |

I bought two GTR BOV's from a Jap wrecker. I searched high and low to get the plastic bosch ones - no one knew what I was on about.....
GTR BOV's are/were $75 each.

with the low boost i'm currently running i find the bosch one to be alittle more suitable, the softer spring means i don't get any going back through the turbo, with the turbo smart one (almsot as soft as it'll go) i occasioanlly find it doesn't open or will do both.
but thats on 5psi.

yeh even at 13psi and my turbosmart bov set on soft i still get a bit through turbo, its almost like its to slow.

yeah, doesn't get vac in the manifold quick enough.

Those Tial blow off valves look pretty good, has anyone used one of them?

I had a play with the BOV Type 1 and Vee-Port Turbosmart BOVs yesterday. The springs in them are way softer than the Dual Port unit I have (even when it is set on maximum softness). I think I might change to one of them, as no point in having the thing if it's not gunna open, or not gunna open enough to let all the pressure out.

GTR BOV's are/were $75 each. I'm pretty sure the part number for the Bosch black plastic ones are - 0-280-142-103 OR 0-280-142-105 . Any body who deals with Bosch (i.e. Repco) should then be able to get them in for you. I've got a brand new one I'm gunna get rid off. |

The bosch unit will be fine for your application. They dont get too much of a workout on a CAPA setup - its more important as a "bypass" valve at idle than it is for releasing manifold pressure under boost. Heck, a lot of 6psi kits in the states dont even bother with them.
So, basically pick one that you find aesethetically pleasing. Unless you've money to burn.
