Im about to get a 100 cell high flow cat for my car, and was curious into knowing what size i would need so it can be welded into the standard exhaust. Is 3 inch okay?

3" inlet/outlet is what you need. I would recommend getting one with a 5" body though, much better forr Turbo applications

remeber that the BA have asingle inlet and dual outlet cat, it wont be a straight weld in like a BF....
i would just knock the core out your existing cat, 100cpi burns hardley any emissions anyway! and both are as legal as eachother....

Tuner is suggesting to me to get 3" cat onto factory dump, and twin 2.5" cat back; changing dump needs stronger actuator mod as it'll want to boost to 12psi or more.. I dunno if I just wanna do that (3"cat + 2x2.5" c/back) and be done with it, not wanting over 300rwKw anyway..
Are you about to get it tuned? Any aftermarket cat and mid section pipes a**'y that will bolt up to factory dump and factory rear 2x2.25"? |

Mate a high flow cat on the standard exhaust system will do the trick for 300RWKW! The exhaust will make the power no problem! As for stronger actuator you wont need it at 300. What your budget? I might have a few pics of systems that bolt up to the standard system.

Budget varies, in real time too I enjoy doing the research, setting a goal, then obtaining the parts at the right price, and right time to get it done.
I'd like to know / see more on the fitting of 3" cats to stock systems... then I can make some evaluations on getting the cat done next with injectors or not.. I like the sound a 3" system makes and keeping it that size as the dump and cat... but part of me says that's crazy, as the stock twin 2.25" system flows well enough, and has more cross sectional area than a 3" anyway. Can anyone post pics of their 3" cat fitted to the stock system, pleeeeeeease |

'all i want is 300rwkw' thats what everyone says till they have it and it feels slow again.
3.5" single is what you need mate, do it right the 1st time...

Picking up a stock centre muffler section for next to nothing this week, going to use the 2x2.25 flanges and a section of the pipes to make up a 3" mild steel section into a collector with 3" in to 2x2.25" out, and it'll bolt up to the rest of the stock system. The plan is to not push more than 290 - 300rwkw with the BTR. This should work well and be very cost effective.

Have made the exact same thing out of full stainless with a 5" body cat, straight bolt up no modifications required. Perfect for the 300-320rwkw power level. Also makes it much easier if you want to reurn the car back to stock. Fitting it on a car next week so ill post up some pictures so you can see

Thanks man Yeah i think there is a real need for a product like this and it will suit most of those modifying XR6 Turbos in regards to the power level it can support. IIRC Spoolmans F6 (over on AFF) ran a high 10 with the stock dump pipe. Ive also got them available for the FGs aswell, will post the details up soon.

Didnt end up getting it done on the BF this week as time was an issue. I did however organise with a friend to trial the FG Turbo Cat pipe that i will be releasing onto his car.
Straight bolt up Here are a couple of pics of the BA/BF section. Modelled it off the original piece however i split it in the middle with a flange to separate the twin section. Easier to package this way, and also easier to fit for those wanting to do it at home. The twin pipes are also twin 2.5", so they will match up great if you have upgraded the exhaust or just want to connect to the stock twin pipes. The cat is a 5" body unit and the cores inside are welded all the way around for extra strength. This will be available and ready to order within the next month.
