I'm currently looking at blow off valves for my turbo setup and I am looking for a good quality plumback. I'm not looking at a vent to atmophere valve as im trying to keep things legal.
At this stage I have been looking at these 2 options Go Fast Bits Mach 1: www.gofastbits.com.au/index.php?parenti ... ion=mach_1 Turbosmart Plumback: www.turbosmart.com.au/index.php?id=48 So I guess my question is what bovs are you lot running and how have you found them?. I dont want to spend stupid money on one but also want a valve that will flow enough air to do the job and not be crap quality. Ill be running a gt35/40 turbo if that helps. Any help would be appreciated. |

Thats sort of why im looking hard at the gfb mach 1 as I can get it cheap. Hundreds of dollars cheaper than the turbosmart. |

I'd piss the BOV off altogether and save the 400 bucks.

Quick way to stuff up a good turbo!! Spining up to 120,000 rpm then being spun backwards at the same rpm is not the best... They even fit these things on std engines where they run low boost.. Another small advantage ?? Is they vent at idle so if there's any pressure at idle ?? It doesn't interfere with idle control...Under vacuum they open and at idle there's vacuum....Or should be .... Even the cheap e bay bov's for $50 is better than nothing... If it was me either Turbosmart or Tial in engines this size....

I know that turbosmart do a plumback but isent the tial a vent to atmosphere valve?. |

They do look like a good valve but they are ajustable and would still be regarded as illegal. They vent to atmosphere as well and I want a plumback. |

.
In theory a turbo will never spin backwards when the throttle is snapped shut.
If any of you guys where at Croyden motorsport a few years back when EB ON Boost's car blew a T04 turbo.. The shaft broke and the exhaust wheel went down dump pipe as it was spinning it cut the dump pipe like a shreader.. The reason it broke???? NO BOV!!! I have seen my twins with NO BOV and I can tell you one will spin backwards....The bigger the intercooler and piping the more air needs to be vented also....
