I put a turbo on my eb this year and when i gave it a good flogging the head gasket blew. Not really a surprise more of an inconvenience. Now I've got a few options with this as I currently have a tickford head on the eb and I also have a spare stock el motor (also with a blown head gasket).
Option 1: Skim the tickford head and re-assemble as is Option 2: Skim the el head and re-assemble as is Option 3: Skim the tickford head and re-assemble with the el cam. Either way ill be using the AU MLS-R head gasket, new head bolts, timing chain and guides and vernier cam gear. As I understand it the tickford head has a higher compression than the standard one (bad for turbo) but larger valves (good for turbo). So I am leaning towards using it. That said which of the two cams would be better for a turbo? Is there anything else that I should look at doing while I have the head off? Cheers

IMO you may as well use the EL block & cam with the Tickford head.
The EF & EL crankshafts had additional counterweights to let them rev a bit higher. With the Tickford head's higher compression ratio, you could put a second MLS gasket to lower the compression.
