G'day
Just read in this months street machine that castlemaine rod shop are now making a super charger kit for the cross flows. The magazine says that its only for carby's not injection. It also says that its designed to go on a standard motor with minimal modifications. The power figures dont seem to bad either, they started with a xe which had 64rwkw and with the kit it produced 104rwkw. The superchargers off a toyota. What do you guys think? Cheers

Street machines saying that the whole kit is 1950. Theres nothing else to bolt on, its ready to go.
I have sent an email to rodshop asking questions about it. My main question is whether or not it can be connected to the injected motors. I'll let you know if i get anything back, Cheers

"As with all the kits, the Ford unit is designed to be the first modification to an otherwise standard motor...power increases in modified engines will be correspondingly less noticeable."
I reckon go for it, if its a standard xd-f, and in good nick. Or else try to get one of those Low Blow chargers to fit! (page 98, Baby Blower)

Those superchargers are not really designed to feed a 4L motor nor are they supposed to be run continuously. My friend had one on a Holden 202 about 2 years ago. We both came to the conclusion that this blower singularly is pathetic if you want any decent level amount of power. We ended up sticking in a Hemi 265 which outpowered it at anything more than 2500rpm.
2 of these blowers would give really good power but would be hard to plumb and fit under the bonnet. |

For the same price you could have a basic turbo setup which could produce more power and also run on EFI engines. A basic turbo manifold would cost $500-$800, a internally wastegated T3 can be picked up really cheaply from a jap inporter, run a rising rate regualtor to control fuel and it should be good for 4-6psi boost. Then you always have the option of upping the boost later if you are prepared to run an aftermarket computer system and a better fuel system.
