Hey guys ive just had a squiz through but cant find the topic im after, if someone could send the link itd be great, if not you might be able to help.

I have an ED Fairmont Ghia I6, 250,000km the engine is in good condition and the interior and exterior of the car are also in very good condition for a 13 year old car, and ill be honest, im attached to it haha, thats why i want to turbo it instead or buying a different or newer car.

What would be involved in replacing my engine with a BA XR6 turbo engine, and what other parts would i need, also what would the cost of such a project be? I've spoken to a mechanic who has heard of it being done, maybe to an EF though, i cant remember. I heard you can pick them up from wrecked cars and soforth with not too much trouble?

Anyways thanks guys. Take it easy!

Sean

$10K. It drops straight in. Change the throttle body to a cable one and your done.

too much effort unless u have 10k sorry mate its been discussed many times and only been sucessful in a couple of causes that ive seen. JET XR has it but the problem is the controlling of the DVCT which needs a pretty exy aftermarket computer or modifying of the ba ecu to work. look at the BOOST6 or Snort turbo kits or buy a car that has it already installed..... trust me i know as i have spent many many thousands on my ef and im only going to be able to sell it for 5k. i went and bought a Forester xt so its fast to start off with ha ha

Hahah forester, no way buddy! I'm not interested in the resale value of the car afterwards, all i care about is having some fun with it, the value of the car doesnt really interest me. I have the cash to spend, but even so it sounds like it might just be too much work.

yeah i agree WTF???!!??

the cost is cause the engines are still new and the ecu's have changed so much since the prehistoric early e series.

cut you losses and get an el and turbo that or buy my ef. its ready to be turboed now as everything on it has been replaced

lol please buy something better than a skyline (unless its an r32)

it will be very expensive for you to insure a turbo vehicle. just something else to consider
