Hey everyone!

Got a weird problem.

When i bought my car i chucked on a Monza BOV (wank factor I know!) and it usually made a deep nice flutter. Now for some reason after a bit of spirited driving last night its making a different sound, more of a WRX woosh as opposed to the flutter that i usually got.

Have i done something to the BOV or deeper issue?

Thanks for help in advance!

Alex

Might have just blown one of your pipes mate. Pull it off and check it out.

Thats what an atmospheric BOV is suppose to sound like, the flutter noise is not created by the bov, its compressor surge... i.e when you snap the throttle closed when changing gear or backing off the compressed air has no where to go and it goes back through the intercooler piping and through the turbo fins causing that chopping/flutter noise. The bov is suppose to prevent this surge by venting the compressed air to atmosphere therefore keeping boost pressures up and spool time reduced during gear changes.

hey,

Had a look under the bonnet on the weekend, turns out one of the pipes leading to the air box slipped of, and that was causing the wosshing sound, fixed that and now back to normal!

Thanks for everyones help!

Alex
