Most Ford motors leave the factory with forged rods.
Did you know all clevos have forged rods? Even 302s. The rods is forged as you say but only the critical areas are machined for correct size and fit. Ford used the forging process because it produced a stronger rod, that was also lighter than casting. The conrod you are thinking of is the fully machined type, such as carillo. All Ford motors that I know of use forged steel conrods. I only mentioned the use of AU rods due to the fact that AU motors are cheap to come by these days, and are also the same length as a BA-BF rod. Therefore facilitating the use of of the shelf forged pistons. From the factory the BA Turbos came with cast/hypereutectic pistons, which all ford 6's left the factory beginning with the EF falcon motors. For my turbo motor, I'm planning on using a std AU motor, but with larger chambers to drop the CR. Au pistons also feature moly coated pistons skirts from the factory, and should handle with ease the amount of power most of us would be happy with.

they are not forged man, they are a cast rod, with machined ends, a forged rod is pressed into shape and then cnc'd to the exact specs, there is no way in hell that std ef rods are forged... a forged rod starts life as a blank piece of steel, then pressed to the shape of a conrod by metal dies, this gives it the basic shape which is tidied up with a cnc dude they are forged. they dont have to be fully machined after the forging process. go have a look at some the web site for rod makers. most of the offer a a basic forged unmachined rod as well as a forged machined rod then you move onto billet rods. here are some pics of the FORGED EF TRW rod as fitted at the factorywith an ACL cast piston. also pictured is an EF TRW rod next to a factory forged 2L escort rod
