hello again, have a slight update, we are in the process of fabricating another 4 of these BA plenums... making 4 at once this time, speeds up the time involved in making them seperately...
so far have 4 base plates cut out and drilled etc, and all the side walls cut out, just need folding, and have 6 throttle body plates also complete ready for assembly.. need to cut out top covers and all the small attaching points, map mount, pcv mount, and vac connector

Ever thought of mounting bellmouths inside the plenum or does the long runner nature of the manifold work just as good without bellmouths as with them?

basically, id say maybe it would be better with bellmouths, that said, you would be stretching to have enough room, height wise aswell as around the holes, considering the inner wall of the plenum runs flush with the engine side of the runners... also consider nizpro made 1163hp with no bellmouths..
that said, it comes down to you get what you pay for, it would take years to install a set of bellmouths in there, and bellmouhs alone arent cheap... my manifold has bellmouths though, but i have single runners and a s**t of room usually most people remove the entire guts from the bbm, so your left with a huge intake area, of larger area than the two runners

Aha thanks for that. Looks like your plenums should be just as good as the overpriced nizpro units then.

i don't mean to sound like a s**t... but would these work on a NA BA I6? i'm eventually getting a turbo... or dropping the 5.4L V8 in but not sure if i could use it in the mean time

I doubt any gain, actually quiet the opposite. Having the dual runners is better for NA as it switchs over when get to the higher RPM. |

This is what it looks like with the bottom half gutted. I used a plazma cutter to remove the guts and saved alot of time.
Greenslade what thickness Ally recommend for a high boost manifold, say 30psi. I have heard one top end manifold ballooning at high boost (this used 3mm thick ally) so I am thinking of 4mm ally for the top half and 6mm for the base.

well, im yet to see any problems with a 3mm ally manifold, we use 3mm for sides and top, and 6mm for base.. i havent run over 17psi with 3mm though, but it has been bulletproof

Thanks. I'll either weld up something similar to what you have done as design wise I havent seen anything designed better and easier (cheaper either) to do or may try a twin throttle body setup with 2 EA t/bs facing the other way to factory but 1 t/b for each set of 3 runners.
If I copy your design I will give you credit for it.

how does the changeover plenum result in bigger rwk's and what other mods are beneficial?

the single biggest advantage is the shorter intercooler plumbing and ease of plumbing, and the gain in plenum volume, turbo engines thrive on larger plenum volumes

Thanks for the info - I was wondering why you would go to the effort of pulling the factory inlet manifold off any car when it would probably be easier to put a few extra bends in the piping (apart from wanting it to look neat).
I have my turbo, turbo manifold, braided lines and bits and pieces now so in a few months when I can get some more cash together I'll be wanting to put it together with a shiny new plenum.

You mention you might be making them to fit EF-AU's, these should also fit EA-ED's running BBM's yeah?
I would be interested at some point in the near future in one. |

Would one of these fit an EA with a BA motor or is the side clearance going to be more of an issue?
I need a cable throttle body and cbf making 100 bends to match up to an EF type manifold. |

funny you ask that, i was having a squiz at the engine in your car wondering if you would have room, it looks like it would..
ill give you the width measurement to see what you think
