Im interested to know how an XR6T would compare to a R33 series 2 GTS-T in handling and braking?

Obviously an XR6T can be made faster for cheap, but how does a new big Aussie sedan shape up to an older entry level bargain Japanese sportscar?

Anyone got experience on both?

Cheers

Falcon hasnt a chance in handling or braking.

Mates got an r32 GTR that sucks the doors of anything around a corner and most cars in a straight line!

Any mod you can do to your xr6t has been done many times since the skylines came out particularly 1989 when r32 came out!

Just such a wealth of knowledge and aftermarket support not to mention standard 4wd and 1400 kerb weight!

Round a racetrack skyline everyday of the week!

He is talking about a R33 GTS-T not the racebred godzilla that is the R32 GTR.

There was a video on youtube about this exact comparison.

Err, he said GTS-T.
So the 4wd doesn't apply.

GTRs = twin turbo, AWD
all others = single turbo, RWD

against GTRs good luck, you will need every bit of it

against normal skylines, you should win... theres a lot of stockish ones going around... most of them arent high HP machines

I would think they would be pretty even if you are talking about both in stock form. Main difference will be the price, as you can pick up an R33 for a few pennies these days, but XR6Ts are still up around the 20-30k mark for one that isn't thrashed out.

The main difference there will be the weight. While the Skyline isn't a lightweight, the XR6T will be heavier again, which means a bit harder on the acceleration, braking & corners.

Main advantage for the XR6T IMO (or a disadvantage in some people's eyes) is that it is a 4 door car with plenty of space.

Go take a few of each for a test drive and see what you think.

Wouldn't the cornering/handling of the GTS-T be better then the XR6T?

not really, xr6t is quicker in a straight line and it has traction control and dsc to help aid during bracking on turns.
any one thats driven a gtst would no that they dont exactly hammer off the line and lack what the xr6t has above say 160km.h
gtst are very good when up and running, hammer in the high revs but the xr6t just has so much torque everywhere.

Found the video I remember seeing. Its with an R34 but you get the picture. Everything said about the 34 take off a few merit points for the 33.

wasn't this asked like months ago????

http://www.fordmods.com/forums/viewtopi ... ht=skyline

oh AU lol...

the skyline what ever enviroment will dominate full stop if the XR6T had 10K spent on it and the same 10K the skyline will still dominate all comes down to power to weight ratio...

XR6T will whomp it in a straight line and get a caining around corners.

Hey guys, thanks for all your opinions

Don't forget everyone I am talking about an R33 GTS-T - single turbo non AWD.

The reason I ask this is because I don't really need the space of the Falcon just yet and would like to get something that handles well.

I know the Falcon doesnt handle badly, but you know what I mean.

But damn I just love that 4.0L!

Is it possible to make an XR6T actually handle really well?

Of course!,
-Lower it
-Get harder shocks
-Bigger wider tyres
- Sway bars
-Maybe a better braking system
-Rear Support bars (not sure of the name of them, that go in the boot)

What else didn't I mention?,
But other than that, your xrt6 will be going aroud corners like it was a straight line :)
