Hey Guys,

How good are the pipes on the AU LTD 185KW engine? I was surprised to see 'factory extractors' on them. Are they any good, or should I look at the pacemakers for a reasonable gain?

Cheers

I haven't looked at them Brad, but i can tell you mine are very squashed and restricted.
I ended up scoring a set for pretty much nothing off an AU2 XR8 that had a full Herrod system fitted.
These look heaps bigger than mine and unrestricted in comparrison.
I'll take a pic of mine so you can see if they're the same.

Walker, they are the std "175kw" headers.

The 185kw AU XR8's came with larger diameter and longer pipes than those...

Hmm, they look quite similar..

I'm assuming the 185's arent really that much better? Perhaps 10KW better at the flywheel?? :)

Sadly all the 175's i've driven seem stronger than the 185 I want. Doh!

The 185's looked pretty decent to me, like "shorty" headers. The collector was a bit small though...

I was making 160rwkw, and running 14.4 @ 96mph with my stock headers and exhaust.

Wow, ok. What mods had you done to get that power?

If they are going in your AU no worries but I wanted to fit these extractors to the EB & no way they will fit
