I am hoping for more bottom end in mine. I am looking at going alloy heads with a decent cam and all the other basic mods and then maybe a standalone ecu and tune.

You want low down torque & horsepower? Go forced induction or add cubic inches.

A 351W based setup might be more along the lines of what you are after.

350 KW, not horses...
I know that basically you choose either bottom end (acceleration) or top end (top speed), but is there a best of both worlds setup?
My 220, on the way to the island for v8s, I had it comfortably doing 200kph, at just above 1800rpm.
Mind you it didnt like doing burnouts, at all, and was a bit boggy off the line...
My ef will fry tyres without effort, pretty impressive get up n go (especially for a wheezer), but starts to top out at around 140kph or so, and revs approx 2300 at 100-110kph?
I was thinking with mine, to go a 347 stroker, or whatever eventuates, and then charge it for the low end accel?
Is this the right path do you think?

Sorry ive kinda taken over your thread...

Sorry, I know its prob a dumb question, but whats this "stand alone ecu", why/whats it do etc?
I dont know much past old school type eng modding...

What gearbox and diff ratio do you have to be siting on 1800rpm at 200k's!

Its just a aftermarket ECU which replaces the factory one. With the factory ECU you are limited in terms of the amount of parameters you can map. By going after market ECU you have more control.

No jokes on those figures, I had a mate sitting next to me at the time who couldnt believe it either...
No ideawhat ratios. Far as I knew back then, it was an AU3 XR8 220...
All I knew of cars really back then was get in, steer, and keep putting petrol in it!

It was auto, adaptive shift? Lsd, irs, and thats all I got...
Man I loved that car. It was scary awesome!

well there was something wrong. You would be sitting at about 4000rpm...

Obviously would not be remotely close to stock, and probably much bigger than 302...

Ive been toying with the idea of fitting clevo heads to it, and ditching the efi for carby...
Not sure cbf with all that though...

TFORD8, no you didn't do 1800rpm at 200kmh. That would have needed something in the vicinity of a 1.8:1 diff ratio, and you would never have made if off the line.

For 350rwkw, bust out the cheque book and build a tall deck dart block stroker.

Well, it happened, and it didnt sound like 4k...just purring... And I was goin past other cars doing 100kph + like they were parked on side of road, but meh...whatever.

Is 350rwkw really dreamland... Is that kinda power bit overkill for a street driven anyway?
What would you fellas suggest is more than ample to whip a few new clubbys?

wow, that's the funniest load of bull s**t ever spun... sorry.. there is no mathematical way a au220 can do 200kmh at 1800 rpm. with the gearing readily available...

mine does 2100rpm at 100kmh in 5th a long way from 200kmh at 1800rpm...
