There may be a couple issues:
The selector switch could need replacing (especially if after market extractors have being fitted with no heat shield to protect the switch).
Voltage issues (if the car is running with less then 12V, as soon as you select D, the car will go into LIMP MODE).

Yep 1DJC is a LWB EEC. That in itself won't effect the operation of the gearbox which is a separate controller.

Thanks Ben voltage is fine. If I'm correct the selector swith is the inhibitor switch and if so already replaced with a new one & shield

Could also be S4 solenoid in the box. Its pretty common.

I'm no expert, but maybe check all your earth points.
You may have 13+ volts at the battery, but the voltage may not be the same everywhere else.
EFI likes good clean power, that much I know.

Check the earth tab on the battery, clean as needed, check earth straps from body to engine and engine to transmission. You could run an earth wire directly to the transmission and see if it fixes it, then you know if its an earth issue or not.

I had the same problem on an EB when I turned the headlights on, trans would go into LHM, I found one of the earth straps not connected to the battery terminal. Reconnected it and problem gone. I hope your problem is as easy to fix.

No offence but I'm sick of telling people how to do it when really it's the first thing they should do. google it.

dont rely on a self test as they only tell you what the comuter can see. I recently had the same issues and took three trips back to a apparent expert who charged like a wounded bull. I did some work myself and found out the box computer had fried one of the circuits inside it. The so called expert said it was impossible to fry them - stunned silence when I took it in to him and showed him.

The self test will not see busted circuits and only gives you outputs(speedo, solenooids, shift patterns, temps etc) hence why this issue didnt show on the self test nor the full diagnostics magic(s**t!!) machine at the so called auto specialist.

Go to a wrecker, buy a second hand BTR computer and instal it - worse case you will have a spare computer :D
