You said you dont think so. What dont you think so about?

If you're spending that much get a decent aftermarket cam.

Just because its free doesnt mean its worth doing though.

+1 for spending that little bit extra for a decent cam. As said, something that will compliment the whole package.

It's still an improvement on the stock cam, I'd sell it and use the funds for a better aftermarket cam.

As for t2te50, Mate, you still haven't beaten a 14.4, I'd shut up or come to QLD and get your @r$3 handed to you by a S1 XR8 that it 35kw down on yours

Hey Chief, hope you don't mind me going a little off topic here....but could you do me a huge favour? Trying to find someone with an AU to poke some multimeters in some wires for me. Could you stick your meter into the plug for the IAT sensor and tell me which side is positive? ta!

hey fella's i would buy an aftermarket cam if i was going to stroke it, but i was going to port the heads & intake manifold anyway to get more flow, being stock, with the y/t roller rockers & cam plus the head work i'll have a motor simliar to the 220kw xr8 motor, so i'll have 230kw ghia. I DON'T WHANT A FULL ON RACE CAR, IF I DID I'LL SPEND AT LEST 10 GRAND ON THE MOTOR

on my n/a 6 i gained roughly 30rwkw just from an aftermarket cam, more comp, valve springs & custom tune..... and my car isnt nor is it meant to be a "full on race car"

there gains are there to be had, but if you would rather stick a factory cam in there its your loss!!!

mate, lets say youv got gt40p's, explorer manifold and a 200kw cam with full exhaust......you would make approx 160rwk give or take. With an aftermarket cam match to the flow of your heads and manifold you will see a good gain of about 20-30rwk depending. so why wouldnt you get an aftermarket cam?. not to mention a wicked lope on idle??. An aftermarket cam for what your aiming for will NOT be a race car no matter..... unless you pull a few vacuum lines..... An aftermarket cam can cost from 250-600 depending which one you choose or if you go custom. Custom is best as youl acheive every hp from that combo but alot of OTS cams work well with gt40p's/explorer combo with results and are cheaper then custom.

E303
Crane 2031 with 1.7RR
Crane 2030 with 1.6 RR
TFS1
cant remember if its a crow 621371 or 621317 cam. the one with 216 intake and exhaust duration works good.

These cams fit in with the power band of gt40p/explorer combo which is around 5300-5600rpm depending on tri-y's, 4 into ones.....and cam profile. Not to mention big gains in the low midrange all the way to redline with an aftermarket. spins the tires and puts you back in the seat whole way. But hell nothing wrong with putting a 200kw cam in. Just you can get better results as everyone has previous said for not much more if your going to that effort....

i thought if i put in the 200kw cam, 1.72 y/t roller rockers, shaved the heads to boost up the compression & port the upper & lower intake manifolds, i'll virtually have a 220kw xr8 but in a ghia, as i was going to buy an series 3 xr8 but thought if i buy an au3 ghia i''l have c/c a/c electric leather seats as standard, i not very kean on the 3 ugly dash switches in the middle of the dash to me it looks cheap & nasty

Or get the 200kW cam re-profiled for even less cost, but all the benefits of a street performance custom cam. Over here I get them done for NZ$150. Since you're planning on shaving the heads anyway, a small decrease in cam base circle will be perfect for maintaining the correct lifter pre-load. FWIW I always get half the base circle reduction amount removed from the rocker pedistals to compensate when I'm using a pedistal mount non-adjustable rocker setup.
