hi all,

I'm looking at getting a 220kw XR8 cam. Would they work well with a boosted efi 351w? I'm not sure of the specs, but they are pretty mild arent they? so should work fairly well imo?

cheers guys.

no waste of time order proper supercharged mild cam
do you really want to open engine up after its built and in the car to change cam?

5000 K6201 Mild cam for near stock engines. Also ideal
for supercharger applications.

They are the specs for the cam, seems pretty good for boosted applications. As i can pick one up cheap, why not.

Seems like you just want to disagree with people who give you replies, why ask the question when youv'e already made up youre mind?

I want a reply from a member who I'm sure knows what there talking about.
I haven't made up my mind at all, I'm simply asking why he thinks it wouldn't be suitable.

The cam spec overview says it is suitable for boosted applications.. Why isn't it suitable for my engine then?

Mine is turbocharged so overlap is not an option...
For a 330CI engine..
236 @50 in
224 @50 exh
.560 lift
110 centreline
114 LSA
On a blower engine the exh could be
238 or so
and 112 LSA

yeeaah bigger...
you've got 351 cubes breathing through fairly mild heads, you want to make the most of them i reckon.
turbo choice comes into it too...
i'd speak to surecam, kelford or one of the US custom cam guys (ed curtis, jay allen), get them to grind you something up to suit your combo. get them to supply springs/retainers as well.
i'm assuming the GT40x springs aren't much chop...

Over 1000 h.p has been made with Fords SVT F303 cam..
With 1 1/2" reversed shorties also on turbo Dart block..
Keep it tame let the blower / turbo make the power...
It will near exceed a std block anyway...

As ebxr says...with a turbo overlap is not an option. For this reason a stock HO cam(118 lobe sep) works very well and with 1.7's would be even better on a turbo 351 engine with 40x heads. In fact(if I can find it) I have an article on a single turbo 5.0 mustang with world 200cc heads and the stock cam...It's in the 10's....can't argue with that!

Looks like I'm going with the stock cam!! Which will save me some coin that can go towards some H-beams. Awesome!

Lifters $434.50

Valve springs $143.00

Moly retainers $126.50 To suit valve springs

Machined locks $ 60.50

T/chain gear set $176.00

Push rods $281.60 one piece chrome molly.
