as i have done a valve in my xr falcon and it is going to cost more to have that fixed plus a few other problems i have decided to buy my mates freshly rebuilt 302 clevo from his XD falcon... he wants a grand for the whole car which has a few goodies on it.. my question is that he has a c4 trans and i have a 3 speed cruisomatic gearbox... will my gearbox fit onto the 302 or will i have to use his c4 and if so will the c4 bell housing fit the floor pan properly???

The c4 should fit both windsor and clevo's.

the C4 isnt exactly a big box, so i dont see why it shouldnt fit in your XR.....

It should fit, however as the 289 is a windsor there are differences.

The engines are balanced differently, and there are differences in the engine plates as well. They sorta fit, but they make make some scratchy type noises on the clevo.

Best to go with all of the running gear from your mate. it will fit

Cheers
