im not sure about 2 1/2 vs 3inch, i had twin 2 1/2s on mine and it was pretty loud with a lil drone..

as for the cats ive got a pair of 2 1/2" hi flows which are about 5000km old.. theyre redback brand iirc... $275 posted if your interested, come with flanges on one end which will bolt up to pacies..
pm me if your interested.

cheers
mitch

You planning on doing much more too it?
If you are gonna go a bit further I'd probably future proof a bit with the 3", maybe 1 straight through muffler and a resonator to take the drone off it?
I really like the twin 2.25"s I've heard (look at "XH5LWEPN"s build thread :D ), but I don't think there is an off the shelf one, so thats probably an alternative to 3" if you don't mind spending a bit more?

heres mine with single 2.5" redback, one muffler, redback high flow cats and genie extractors.

Not too loud, not too quiet, and F**k all drone on the freeway.

i have pacemakers and a 2.5 into 3 inch on my el with a 3 inch magnaflow and it sounds poo, im changing it soon to a 2.5 rear section with a lukey muffler like my other v8.
In my opinion i wouldnt go bigger than a 2.5 single on an internally stock windsor because they sound crap with the stock cam and compression.

ok i think im gonna go twin 2 1/4 inch all the way through. Dont know if i should use 2 mufflers or just use a single twin in/twin out muffler and weather or not to use a resinator.

Check out NCIILanes exhaust, its a twin 2 1/4 system with 3 hotdogs in each pipe, sounds bloody mint, once I've payed my rims off, that's what I'm going with!

Ive got Hurricane headers, high flow cats and twin 2 1/4 pipes with 2 pairs of hotdogs.
It is a little load especially if im rocking up at home at 1 in the morning

Very nice sound though. Alot more deeper and V8 like compared to the hollow sounding Holdens!

Twin pipes give a sharper note or single for volume

When i bought my AU111 XR8 last year it came with a 3" single system which sounded great but was droney at cruising speed(100-120km/h) which started to get annoying. I was advised that the droning is due to the exhaust being too large at the rear as the gas requires less pipe as it cools. From the diff back the system steps down to 2.5" pipe and 2.5" muffler.....Sounds even better, no drone and actually feels more responsive!!

Many people make the mistake of going too big and the performance will suffer for it......

It may feel more responsive, but you will have lost top end, I have a single 3" on my AU1 XR8, and went 14.3 last night on an unopened 185 motor with 19lb injectors. BTW, IT 60 footed in 2.0 so a 3" will affect s**t all, just in twin 2.25 or single 3

I was advised that top end loss would be minimal for a standard/mild engine. How often are you driving above 5000rpm on the street???!!!! The dyno showed it making good power up top. With the flashtunes done, I have a choice of three tunes and the one I use is the one with the best midrange. It sacrifices about 3-4kw at about 5300rpm to he highest rwkw tune.I prefer a car that is more responsive in the midrange...That's where I prefer the best power/torque spread for winding roads and overtaking.
