single 3" or twin 2.5", twin 3" to big i reckon.... a friend of mine has a 220kw XR8 with a single 3" and it sounds nice, another bloke i know has an EF xr8 with twin 2.5" through lukey ultra flow mufflers and that also sounds tough... just my opinions though....

Iv'e got the 200kw spec XR8... twin 2.5 mandrel bent...high flow cats and all the goodies! Probably wouldn't wanna go any bigger in my personal opinion! Other-wise you will suffer from that severe droaning affect!
Which mine, may i add... has none off! My 2cents.
Carlos,

ive got a single 3 inch on mine with 1 small muffler and ive only had good comments on my system. however mine is manual so an auto would probly be a bit more droney but who cares the sound of the v8 isnt annoying anyway. single 3 inch will be louder than the twin system as it has 1 more muffler but just depends how loud u want it.

I've got a single 3" cat back (Lukey Super System) on my AU1 XR8 auto.

It is a little bit "boomy" at very low throttle around 60kph in 4th, but other than that there is no bad noise/drone. I do at least 50% highway driving too.

Sound is pretty good. As for performance, it doesn't feel any quicker than the stock system, and the GTech agrees with me unfortunately :(

I'll have it at the track again soon, so I'll find out for sure then.

Theres no real exh gains to be had until you do extractors and cats.. and probably some head/induction work anyway.

Yeah thats probably true, the 220kw exhaust is OK to begin with however their extractor design isn't the best so thats where the majority of power would be picked up. IMO a twin 2.5" system is too much for most cars out there. Both twin 2.5" and single 3" systems will loose you a touch down low but should pick up enough up high to compensate, either one would be fine for your engine but the twin will obviosuly cost around double.

I'll jump in here, I recently went to a performance exhaust specialist to see if I could get a twin 2.5" system under my EF V8 Gli ex-chaser, he said he couldn't do it as there's not enough room on a stock falcon, so how does the XR8 system fit, there's no difference in the chassis is there, or was it because the the "from factory" lowered suspesion of the chaser makes it to hard to run the pipes

Twin 2.5" and even twin 3" is possible but it is hard to do, if it is not installed exactly right it will knock when going over bumps therefore most exhause shops just say no.

Well my exhuast hits the diff oif I go over speed humps fast or when there is huge pot holes that you cant avoid.
And shop around some will do it eventually for you and say to the shops you dont care about the damage from the car being to low if they want the $$$ they will do it.

Twin 2.5inch will fit underneath...just alot of work involved! And the buck adds up, my AUII XR8 has been lowered... considerbly low may i add and i am running the twin 2.5 system... with extractors ect ect! Doesn't seem to bottom out much! Of-course on those really high speed bumps with a full load it will... just gotta learn to angle the car right over them! You will find your front kit scrapping more then under-neath.
Carlos,

Thats not surprising, however for those who are just going cat back will definantly notice a drop in the bottom end.

Mine doesn't feel any worse at low rpm and/or part throttle, feels better than stock actually. Stock AU1 XR8 with Crane 2030...
