Hi guys,
I have a 69 wagon that i wish to put a 302 clevo in. i picked the motor and what i believe to be a c4 box up at the ballarat swap meet. Will i be able to bolt it straight in after removing th six, eg, cross member, gearbox mounts. Also will i be able to connect the colum shifter to it, i could keep the box thats in it by changing the bellhousing but i heard that the c4 is stronger. thank you for your time |

You'll need a V8 double hump gearbox crossmember and you'll need XR-Y type V8 body mounts to take the V8 mounts. Being a cleveland it will have a large bell C4 with 164T flywheel so you will not be able to use the 6 cyl C4 without swtching to a 157t flwheel and using the early small bellhousing...not worth it because the large bell C4 has a flared case for the bell to bolt to making it less prone to leaks like the early type and stronger. You will be able to connect the column shifter but the linkage may require mods or parts from a Cleveland powered column auto car....good oportunity to change to cable operation I reckon.
See how I did my XG here...5-0-into-xg-t64924.html....Sorry bumsteer!..it seems I didn't post photos of the cable shifter setup. |
