if your going from a 6cyl -> v8. You'll also need the V8 gearbox. Otherwise it should bolt up. The only thing I'm not 100% sure of is the engine mounts on the chassis.

yer i know that hey im curerntly on the look out for engine mounts for a cl;evo into XA
another thing . . . one muffler shop told me to bolt my extractors on after the engine has been put into the bay apparently u only need to remove the starter motor and manouvre it in . . . another muffler shop told me its a hell of a lot easier with clevos to bolt ectractors on then lower the engine into the bay . . . from experianxcedo u know anything about this??? |

Got plenty of experience there. It depends on the extractor design. Some will go in bolted to the engine. Others have no hope in hell.
Best bet is sit the extractors in the bay and lower the engine in. Once your 50/70% in you can bolt them to the engine and drop the engine 100% down. I bolt mine on when the engines roughly 3" off the mounts.

get new v8 engine rubber mounts from ford/bursons.
get the lwr metal engine mounts (bolted to the chassis) from the wreckers (out of a v8) , v8-l6 different. you will need a v8 auto behind youre engine as the bw35 auto wont handle any pwr. let alone fit. the 6 and v8 radiators are different so you will need the v8 radiator mounts from the wreckers. plus some trimming of the rad support pannel. (tin snips). extractors are easier to fit to the engine while it is out and then lwr asssembly in. they can be fitted later but its a pain in the a***!!!! mostly every thing else is pretty straight fwd, although you will have to lengthen wires for temp sensor/coil wiring from memory |

As your only using a stock 302 a good C4 auto will cope no probs. C4's were also fitted to 4.1's in xd's and xf's so they are easy to find.

brenx u seem to know a lil bit about this topic and the other topic i started have u done a similar build? I've worked on many V8 X series falcons from the 60's through to the early 80's. I did a stint as a mechanic at a wreckers. All I did all day was engine conversions, diff and gearbox changes. I'll find a pic of a c4/10 for you. I'm sure I have one here. [edit]all my mates own X series cars too. * One used to have an XC that we did engine changes on every 4 months as he was too tight to maintain the engine. * other had two XB's. One wagon and a coupe. Wagons now written off. * another owns an XA GT that I do work on every now and again * then there's myself with the XB. This is my 2nd XB. I built my car so I know every inch of it. I do my own paint/panel and majority of the mechanicals. I do all the maintenance too.

The dipstick screws in just underneath the billet servo cover you see.
