Ok this is probaly a no brainer but wanted some reassurance from you guys on this one.
Ive just bought my XH XR6 with the 5 speed. Goes alright, plenty of power but seems to use just as much, if not more fuel than my NF V8 Lane!!! I got a complete V8 conversion from a DF LTD ready to go and wondering whether it would be worth it and how difficult it would all be. The XH came out in an XR8??? If this is true then it should be all plug and play... Hoping so anyway!! All help and opinions greatly appreciated. Cheers, Justin

I think there'll be a lot of re-wiring to do. The wiring harness will need to be run to suit the V8. You'll need a V8 gearbox as well. The 6cyl box will fit - just, but it's not a great idea as the input shaft only just meshes. A manual V8 EEC will need to be sourced, unless you get a J3 chip burnt to go into the auto EEC.

Well I have the complete wiring loom from the car with the motor, box, ECU. Its still in the car running so I shouldnt be far off having everything. Is there anyway just to bypass the auto bit from the ECU so it runs with the manual??
Or Im just looking at running the auto for now....

The 6cyl T5 will not fit onto the V8. If you fit everything from the DF, including ecu, harnesses, motor and box, etc, you should be OK.
I would stick with the 4.0 and 5 speed, and spend a bit on a good tune and maybe an exhaust. It should use a fair bit less than your barge, and will be close to being as quick as it too. If you do remove the 6 and T5, you should get a good dollar for it....

I think that I might invest my money elsewhere. Maybe a nice set of extractors, its already got the 2.5" exhaust from the cat back. Maybe a cam and a tune will help things out.

Maybe look into a turbo or supercharger... I don't think I've seen any turboed XH XR6s yet...
