cam, heads, intake manifold. In that order as well, as they are the fiddly ones to do once the engines in the car. (cams a b**ch to do with the engine in) Unless you want to stroke it or sumfin.

Anything else you can change after its in and running easily

Heads and cam make all the power.

The rest is an air pump.

Ok if you want to keep it carby etc, here is a article on a 400hp 302W.

I own an alloy dual plane 302 intake that is like new, might want to sell it, I can't remember what it is exactly, I think it is one of these
http://www.holley.com/HiOctn/ProdLine/P ... /8011.html I can go for walk and find out if you are interested.

I have a few other parts I might sell too,

Like new headers to suit X series, they were on a XW. (unsure about brand)

Standard length 3/8 302W hardened pushrods.

Like new Heatseeker HS30F Hydraulic 2000/5800rpm lift: in 493 ex 521.
Advertised duration: in 285 ex 290

I have a few carbies that need rebuilding 650 vac Holley, Carter 625 and Thermoquad in parts.

Windsor M/T thick finned alloy rocker covers, they need to be de chromed as chrome flaking off. (Not sure about clearance for roller rockers etc)

I have other Windsor gear to, I figure if I sell all the stuff I shouldn't use, I wont get more crazy ideas to use it in something.

I read that article on a mustang site as well.

Pretty good and cheap if you are very handy under the bonnet and in the work shop.

Wander how long the standard type s**t would last giving it that harder time past 6500 :!:

I got that article from a Mustang site, I have or did have that actual Mustang Mag where that article came from, it would be at least 7yrs old.

My 69 302W I bought ended up dropping a piston skirt from the owner pulling 7000rpm to much, but that was an original low km 69 engine, it has never been opened until new cam, pushrods, dual point dissy, headers and intake etc was fitted, so you can't blame it for doing it.

Fit a decent set of pistons and 6500 should be ok for a fair while, early cranks are lower counter balanced so reving them should be better than late engines with 50oz balances. (well that is my opinion anyway)
