Even so you can't use a 5.0 distributor housing in the 351 and neither can use the shaft because of the 1/4" oil pump shaft.
If you're going 351 get a 351 TFI distributor with it.

are the 351 tfi dizzy's easy to come by. I might be getting an old 351 with non tfi??? im assuming it cant be adapted to TFI.

Also, can you tell me exactly what you did to the sump i saw in your build thread?
How different is my 302 sump?
Will i be able to do the 351 conv. as i have an EL k frame?

thanks mate.

Yeah F-series EFI 351's are all over the place. You know JEEEPARTS in QLD had '94-up type roller 351 shorts for about $795 with cam and lifters...he probably has 351 or 460 TFI dizzies kicking around too? TFI dizzies will fit early blocks though. You can get aftermarket 351 TFI dizzies too.
460 TFI dizzies will also fit if you change the gear but most are the remote TFI type which means you'll have to do some mods to your 5.0 engine harness.
I thought it was pretty obvious what I did with the sump but ok, I cut the angled wings off(which hit the sides of the K-member) that weren't supposed to be there because I ordered it specifically from HE for an EB!?! Besides they stuck a friggin boat anchor dipstick tube in it instead of the factory 5.0 one!?!....morons!
A 302 sump has a different pan rail due to the very small main caps....it's impossible to fit it to a 351.
The EA-AU use the same sump so a 351 sump designed to fit a 351 EB will fit...at least IT WILL IF IT'S f**k MADE PROPERLY!
BTW an old XW(or other front sump Ford) 351W pan will also fit but of course doesn't have the extra capacity and baffling of an aftermarket pan.

ok, $795, thats sounds realistic!. Ill look em up

As for sump clearance on eb, the EL k frame is a lil beefier round the front section. You think ill have trouble there?

Thanks again mate. Very Helpful!

You may need to make your own sump because you certainly can't trust HE to do anything properly.
In fact several guys I know that have bought HE sumps lately have had problems with them cracking....their response..."f**k OFF!"

yeah i'd think twice about HE if i had my time again, i had to modify the dipstick to fit the sump, and the pickup flange was bent like a banana (reeaaally wish i had of noticed this when putting it in for the first time ).
Not real crash hot for the price you pay!

The HE sump I have seen off the car looked good manufacturing wise, but had to be modified (and yes they knew what it was going on). It wasn't even anything difficult, just an extra capacity version of stock one that then fouled on the subframe

It seems now they can't even manufacture them properly....cracked welds on brand new sumps is just s**t. They reckon there is no warranty because it's for racing!?! What a crock!!!

I had my original sump modified for the extra clearance instead of going HE and from you have just mentioned, I'm happier for it.

I'm not sure if its H.E or the locals whom it was bought from..
They think Windsors came in old Falcons..
Order the WRONG sump.. Not looking up CORRECT part number..
Thankfully I bought mine through http://www.austrackmotorsport.com.au/

thanks mate, just had a look at their site, they list 351 shorts for $495, so hopefully they have a 351w roller for me.
Cheers,
Peter
