Since the block is the same, just get the best block you can find. Std bore and the least scale in the water jackets. Best to get it sonic tested to make sure you have enough wall thickness to hold up.

you will need to spend 2 grand on preping a clevo block to go 5oohp and youll have to spend 12 to 14 grand all up on the engine then you have to spend on gear box and diff then upgrade breaks and susspenssion say goodbye to 20 grand at least , if you are unaware that the 302 and 351 clevo blocks are the same there is a hell of a lot of reserch and reading you need to do before you start making some choices........

yer mate reading is one of the best ways to find stuff out i mean no harm in asking hell i asked heaps of questions when i did my build the problem was i took alot of what people said as gosple and didnt read enough and ended up spending money on the wrong stuff only to end up replacing it with something else or something better, never stop asking questions just make sure you double check and even tripple check what you have been told, good luck with the build mate

easy question 351C if you gotta carry that big lump of clevo around has to be the 351 302C are only a bodge up to make up for the loss of the 302W, i've had both, but best explained thus:-
i was driving up a long hill in my 351C ZD fairlane (4 speed manual) beside my mate in his 302C XB coupe (also manual) i waved at him and floored it - left him for dead, when we arrived at destination he asked me if i dropped it back a cog or 2, i said no just left it in 4th, he said sh*t he'd dropped it back and still had nothing! 2 months later he had a 351C! 302C don't bother no better economy, less power

Pavtec did the block prep for my 408 Cleveland and including supplying the grout and filling, boring/honing, line bore, fitting oil restrictor kit, doing cam bearings, decking the block, doing welshplugs, pressure test etc, it was around $1000. I run the Scat 4340 kit, with H-beam rods and 11.7 compression, and good on BP98 pump fuel. Just a fun 10 second street car.
