I have an XE Fairmont that I would like to strip down and custom restore into a 'oldskool meets newskool' look. I have designed and read through a lot of forums thus far and am now in need of feedback and advice before I get stuck into it. The plan is simple in theory but I'm sure time consuming and much of a headache but will be a grand explosion of head turning glory when it finally comes together.

I'm not making any final decisons yet on the engine and transmission set up but I want to put a 5.0L Windsor 302 with EFI. The other option was to go for a B model XR6 Turbo, but I'm sideing towards the V8. Has anybody had any issues with FordRacingParts.com? Any feedback would be appreciated greatly. Has anybody attempted this conversion with pictures or explanation? Would it be cheaper to purchase a 302 from an XR8 E series or equivalant and get it reconditioned?

Also what would be a good option for transmission? Possibly with a decent shift kit.

Cheers, Timmy.

I would be looking for a 351 from F series ..
ford-v8-f2/351w-into-xe-ute-t9411.html
Fit alloy heads, mild cam 212 to 220 @ 50 duration to keep good fuel
economy. All the 5.0 EFI stuff fits if it doesn't have any..
Fit EFI 351 inlet. The accessory bracket from 5.0 bolts up...
Just requires maf conversion from speed density..
XE's came out with 351 Clevo so the authorities should be happy..
Should be plenty 5 or 6 speed trans out there ??
Or a kitted up C4 with 3.08 rear ratio would be street killer..

The Ford racing EFI harness etc is good stuff and is a good way to get a harness that isn't f**k or f**k with. Plus it doesn't have unnecessary stuff in the harness.
Finally someone suggested a 351 before I did!? So I don't have to.
