So I'm pulling my engine out to fit my new heads, cam etc... and I thought to myself, if I'm going to do that, I may as well freshen up the seals etc, then I thought, If I'm going to do that I may as well stroke it to 331ci... So I've built up a small list of required parts from Summit but I need to know If I'll run into any problems, or If I need any other parts etc.
Can I still run 24lb injectors on a 331 with the twisted wedge heads, cam intake etc? Or do I require larger? First off, engine bored to 4.030 then fitted with the following: -Fed. Mogul cam bearings (FEM-1204M) -Fed. Mogul CP rod bearings (FEM-2600CP) -Fed. Mogul mains bearings (FEM-4125M) -Pioneer automotive 28oz SFI balancer -Summit 4340 H-Beam rods (SES-5-44-05-201) -Sealed Power file-fit plasma-moly rings (ZR977135) -Trick Flow 331ci twisted wedge forged pistons (TFS-51404111) -SCAT 93023 forged crank (SCA-93023) -Full Fel-pro gasket kit I already have a Yella Terra 50oz flywheel, but it has removable weights so I'm presuming I can just purchase a 28oz weight from them to replace it...... I'm planning to get the local engine shop to do the machine work on the block, then install the rest myself/my dad. Dad has two garages full of specialty tools and has been a mechanic since the dawn of time... but how big of a job is putting the rotating assembly in? The bearings, crank, rods and pistons come in at just under $nz2000 delivered, I'm assuming the bore/hone will be around $500. |

Just my opinion here but seeing as you haven't mentioned what intake and cam to go with the TW heads, I would consider 30lb injectors for the additional headroom. That would mean upgrading your fuel pump too.

This is similar assembly to mine..
I used a neutral balanced crank.. Which still requires balancing.. what cam are you using ??? TFS 1 ?? Suggest head and mains studs too... Oh and decent sump or add windage tray, crank scraper and extended sump to increase capacity...

That would mean upgrading your fuel pump too. I have the TFS 1 cam, TFS Track Heat intake, and TW 170 heads. I also have a Walbro 255 pump and also the TFS fuel rail kit. The reason I'm taking the engine out is to put all the gear onto it, so i though while i was at it I may as well stroke it if it's not going to cost an arm and a leg to get the machine work done. {USERNAME} wrote: I was paying about $30 a hole for a re-bore. Assembling the engine isn't hard mate, you'll be all over it! Hopefully this place in town doesn't charge much more! I may even just get a quote for putting it together, as looking at videos of piston ring installs, looks too damn fiddly! {USERNAME} wrote: This is similar assembly to mine.. The kit came with ARP head studs already, So I should buy some new main studs? What sumps are available to suit our Falcons? I'm trying to buy everything from Summit at once as they charge an arm and a leg for shipping, so I may as well make the most of it. Do I need a new oil pump or will the stocker do the trick? |

Graeme, I think you edited the quote above a little off.
It was XFWAGON who was asking the question and not me.
